We loved going to the MVC in its old location. Staff was always friendly and happy to see us even when busy.
New location needs some polishing for sure. But it’s been closed for years and after all it’s Portola. Not many polished places in Portola.
The food has always been solid. Never astounding but what you’d expect from a small town dinner. Decent portions, hot, tasty, pretty fast and inexpensive for what you get.
So we’ll be back AND we’ll be thankful and supportive of a small family run business working hard to make a living in a small rural town.
Cheers

From what I read the menu hasn't changed except for price, most of review are old, current review is the same poor. How do you expect customers to pay bill cash only just shows how unorganized these people are now, they are just lazy, the owners are they only moved across the bridge not a big deal.
How come reviews are same old ones from years ago.

Not bad but overcooked my eggs, again :( need to turn down your temp, you do not cook eggs until they brown up. Great pancakes.

Had that old town charm, food, and service okay. We both left with full bellies. Grits was a nice side, I think it was my favorite part.

Parking: Curb highth for lower vehicles might cause an issue with opening passenger side door when parking.

Two slices of mushrooms on an overcooked and dry, oversalted mushroom burger. Charged $.75 because I asked for mayo on the side when they usually put it on the inside.

Easily the best chocolate chip pancakes I've had yet, if you find yourself in the Portola area this is an absolute no-brainer!!

Wheelchair accessibility: The tables are very spaced out, the location itself is easily accessible via wheelchair, and although the door is not motorized, an employee or passerby would be more than happy to open the door for anyone that needs it.

Would of loved to have tried the food if they hadn't closed 30 minutes early. Why even keep your business open if you can keep your hours.

We had a wonderful breakfast at Mountain View Cafe. My husband had the Meat Lover Skillet, and I had the Western Skillet, both served with a huge & fluffy pancake. Excellent, attentive, and friendly service. We will be back next time we are in town!

It was my first time being here, and most likely my last. The service wasn't great, tables that were seated after my table, had their orders taken before us. While we sat there clearly ready to have our orders taken for almost 10 minutes. The food lacked flavor and my dad's order was entirely wrong. Drinks were in soda cans, which means no free refills.Unfortunately we won't be back to spend our money there again.
