Disappointment Between Two Slices: A Jimmy John’s Letdown

What happened to the Jimmy John’s I once knew? As someone who grew up in Central Illinois, I had fond memories of this sandwich chain - memories that were brutally shattered during my recent visit.

The experience began with a distinct lack of customer service. The cashier seemed completely disinterested, taking an uncomfortably long time to acknowledge my presence. When he finally did, his lack of enthusiasm was noticeable- setting the stage for the culinary disappointment to come.
The sandwich itself was a far cry from the quality I remembered. Priced at nearly $10, it was a massive letdown. Underripe tomatoes sat limply between slices of day-old bread, while an overwhelming amount of mayonnaise nearly drowned out any hint of turkey. The entire sandwich appeared hastily put together, with zero attention to quality or presentation.

This isn’t just about a bad lunch - it’s about a brand that seems to have lost its way. The Jimmy John’s I remember was about fresh, quick, and satisfying sandwiches. This experience was anything but. What used to be a reliable option now feels like a waste of money.

I ordered a chicken ranch wrap and I wanted an extra kick ranch but not in the wrap on the side because I don't like it overly soggy food, and guy that rang me up said that if I could have asked for extra in the wrap they wouldn't have charged but because I asked for it on the side they charge.

What makes a sandwich? The bread. I’ve gone here about 4 times now, I’ve had fresh / soft bread about never. GM needs to go back to training on bread.

Compared to other Jimmy John locations in the area, they put no food on your sandwitch. The avocado looked like very thin green paint. Half the meat of their other local locations. Homeless hang around the doors.

I placed an online order, Turkey sandwich with Avocado Spread and cut in half. I go pick up my order and get back to my office and I open the sandwich, not cut in half and no Avocado Spread, which I paid extra for. I called right away and the guy who answered, his attitude was "I can careless". Not even a "well refund" you for the spread or we'll credit you for next time. What ever happened to make it right. Not sure if I'll go back. Please teach your employees about making it right.

First time visiting this location. Ordered online for pickup on Monday right at noon. Arrived in about 10 minutes. Parking lot was pretty busy since there are other businesses sharing the same lot. Walked over to the pickup counter, the gentleman with a beard was busy fulfilling orders. He politely asked my order name, and said it was being made. Hit the restroom really quick, came out and sandwich was ready. Place was busy but the staff really did a great job providing great fast and accurate service. Sandwich was perfect, just how I ordered! Good job fellas!

I recently had the worst experience at Jimmy John’s and I am utterly disappointed. I placed an order for an unwich online, and despite the store showing as open on their website, it turned out to be closed when I arrived to pick up my order. To make matters worse, they had already charged my card for the sandwich.

I tried calling the store multiple times to address the issue, but unsurprisingly, no one bothered to pick up the phone. Frustrated, I decided to contact corporate only to be greeted by a voicemail that seemingly no one ever checks. It's beyond me why this company would allow payments to be processed if they are closed and not even have a basic customer service system in place to handle such situations.

This level of incompetence and disregard for customers is simply unacceptable. I will never be ordering from Jimmy John’s again, and I strongly advise others to steer clear of this poorly managed establishment. Save yourself the trouble and choose a more reliable and customer-focused eatery for your next meal.

The place consistently closes early without a sign or notice, particularly on Sundays. Arrived for dinner Sunday to find the front door wide open, no employees inside and the lights were off. Very bizarre.
