The food was great! It seems to be a pretty popular place. A few people sat outside and just ordered drinks and appetizers, which I might do next time. The only negative was that the service was extremely slow. However, I feel that they were understaffed or just short-staffed that evening. Our waiter was hustling back and forth from inside to outside (we were outside) and was doing his best. It took a while to get refills on drinks, but the food came pretty quickly.

The appetizer and chicken sandwiches were very good however the burgers were not cooked correctly and the service so bad we did not have the opportunity to send them back and went uneaten. We were given water when first seated but never got to order alcohol (which saved us money so I guess we shouldn't complain). We were there to celebrate my son's birthday and in lieu of bringing a cake we thought we'd order dessert there but was never asked. The server never checked back with us after taking our initial order. My husband had to go ask for the bill so we could leave as we were basically left sitting there. Maybe there was a staff shortage that evening but it made for a very disappointing experience. Don't know if I'd bother going back.

The State is that spot if you're looking for good vibes, great food, and a little people-watching on the side. The bar seating outside is hands down the best seat in the house perfect for soaking up the Victoria gardens energy, sipping something strong, and catching all the street-style moments.
Burgers…very flavorful, and Pair it with their crispy fries and a cocktail, and baby, you're golden.
Laid-back, and trendy. The State never misses. This is definitely one of Rancho’s gems.

Have been here several times but first time actually trying something to eat the service by our waiter was horrible we sat outside in the patio it was not crowded and our waiter took forever to get to us never offered refills and we had to go look for him just to order our food definitely not going back here to eat again, maybe just drinks at the bar only.

Good for a large group with a baby. Restaurants has enough ambient noise to not feel self-conscious when the baby started acting up a little.

Great food & service. Pricing was also not bad for the amount of food you get. I marked the ambience lower because we were outside and it was enjoyable in 94 degrees- it should not have been an option at that temperature.

This was my first visit to The State. I brought my mom here for mother's day, she ordered a burger that they made incorrectly. The waitress took very long to return and was not friendly so my mom didn't want to send it back or eat it. Chilaquiles were not good either. With the exception of one guy, none of the staff cracked a smile at any of the guests, they seemed unapproachable which is not a vibe I get at most restaurants. I will obviously not be going back.

I have always loved dining at “The State”. However, as a returning customer, I'm pretty disappointed that our server did not recognize the special request I provided when making the reservation through OpenTable. I requested that I was celebrating my friends birthday and nothing was mentioned at the table nearing the end of our dining experience. I'm not sure if it was a communication error with relaying to the server or if it was a lack of regard. Pretty disappointed that my friend's birthday was not acknowledged by the restaurant staff.

I went for my birthday dinner and I had an absolutely amazing time. The server was friendly and helpful. The food was phenomenal. I will be definitely going back .
The food and service were amazing but the restaurant was so noisy we could not have a conversation across a small table. I think I would consider returning if I were to sit outside where it is quieter.

I love this restaurant and have been many times however, last night was horrible. While the food was great (as usual) thank goodness, it was not such a great dining experience. The server did not have any people skills. He was not inviting us in, he was not engaging...it was more of a hurry up and order kind of thing. The manager served us our (VERY SMALL pour) glass of wine...so very overpriced for how much you get. The server never came back to ask us how we were doing, if we wanted more of anything and we had to ask for the check. A lady (who looked horrific (clothing, hair, and teeth) came by to ask how our meal was and if she was a manager, she was a poor representation for that restaurant. It was Very Very loud even way to BAR LIKE. People were dressed in jeans, hoodies, T-Shirts, it really felt like a bar., I felt like I was at a Brewery instead of a nice eating establishment. The experience (for a birthday) last night was VERY VERY DISSAPOINTING. Even though I love the food there; I don't know that I will be back.
