I have eaten in and done take out. Everything I have ordered has been delicious!
Awesome food and team! Love the entertainment and ownership!
Incredible food and entertainment experience! Today we enjoyed the ribbon cutting and a networking lunch with the Rancho Mirage Chamber. Great time was had by all!
I heard about Pangaea from a friend so I decided to try the Pangaea Cubano Sandwich and I was not disappointed! The sandwich itself was packed with flavor so I had to come back and try something else out. I'm back a second time and this time I got the Rib Eye and Man the sauce it comes with is unbelievable! I thought the sandwich was delicious but this ribeye my God! Shoutout to the Chef in the back of the house for all this delicious food. I will definitely be coming back again. 5 out of 5 stars for sure!
This is a new restaurant to the Coachilla Valley. We read neighbor's reviews of a very good Peruvian restaurant. We could not pass it up. On a Saturday night, the restaurant was staffed with one waiter with assistance from the receptionist. The restaurant was fairly busy leading to some delay in taking orders and getting food out, but was not excessive. We started with a fish and shrimp ceviche. This was enough for two to share. The dish was very good with a reasonable amount protein. I ordered the pepperonatta with grilled scallops and jumbo shrimp. The dish was very nice, however, a few pieces of shrimp were overcooked. I thought I hit upon a very good dish. Until, I tasted the lomo saltado stir fry that my wife ordered. The flavor of the beef was incredible with a sauce that tempted you to lick the plate dry. The wine list is limited but very reasonably priced. The owners are in the process of applying for a liquor license, so, wine (sparkling wine) and beer only at this time. The location is on Hwy 111 in Rancho Mirage, in a nice setting. If they can continue with dishes of this quality, they will be around for a long time.
We have been to the the restaurant a couple of times before, but tonight we were celebrating a friend's birthday. The restaurant and the wait staff are friendly, engaging, and provide a nice experience, through their Food, their personal interactions with the customers, and their warm hospitality. We love Maria Jose!
This was our first visit to this restaurant. Great dining service by our server Trevor. Maria Jose is an exceptional restauranteur and kudos to her creative chef! Definitely worth dining here again. Thanks Maria Jose for adding a flair to dining in the Coachella Valley with your delicious Peruvian Gourmet dining!
Such a pleasant surprise to discover a truly authentic Peruvian restaurant with a wide selection of fresh seafood and creative dishes. Topped off by a personal visit from Maria. A rewarding experience even by my hard to please guests. Have recommended and will return ASAP
Although the food was very tasty, (tad bit salty), they did their best to deter people from returning. The major problem was the menu vs. what was served and the inability of the wait staff to adequately describe the food. There were 3 of us, and none of us got what the menu advertised. One ordered beef stew w/mashed potatoes - was served beef stew with rice, another ordered a beef dish with steamed yucca & rice - was served french fries, the third ordered spaghetti w/seafood cooked with tomatoes, garlic & onions - was served spaghetti w/seafood in a white sauce. In addition one of the costumers asked the waiter to explain one of the Peruvian dishes & he was unable to explain the dish. We had to request our drinks 2 or 3 times before we were served. In addition there were no napkins on the table and we had to request napkins twice before getting them. The restaurant has great potential, however they definitely need to work on there service and follow through or they will loose their clientele.
The Peruvian celebration was very good, Susana and Julio made the 198 ??celebration a very special event, we all enjoyed the music, the Country folklore and the distinctive Peruvian cuisine. It was a night that was very pleasant no only to Peruvian but to people of other nationalities that were in attendance.

Unfortunately this was a disappointing experience for my family. We were excited to support this local Peruvian restaurant and celebrate Peru Independence Day! The music and patrons were warm and friendly. The service from the host and wait staff was not unfortunately. Our 19 month old was hungry, we waited for over 30 minutes to put in our food order. We were able to put an order of Pisco Sour when water and cancha was served to us at our table. The 2 Pisco Sours were never served. My husband tried to waive a waiter down to attend to us and he was ignored. He then excused himself with our child and talked to the host. To my surprise and disappointment she was not apologetic nor warm to my husband when he shared our experience with her. Regretfully, we will not support Maria José Peruvian Gourmet due to our unkind experience.
Read and heard all about this restaurant and couldn't wait to go. Very disappointing. The service was extremely slow. It took forever to get a glass of water! The room was extremely warm and the meal was overly salty... almost difficult to eat. Wish it wasn't so... but as a person who dines out often I could not recommend this place.
so glad we found Maria Jose Peruvian Gourmet in high summer, as i know it will be more crowded once "the season" returns to Rancho Mirage, and this great spot gets further discovered. starting with a welcome that makes you feel like a regular, and personal attention from Maria Jose herself, we quickly fell victim to her excitement that we try her native cuisine, made from native ingredients she imports. the wonderfully broad menu offers something for everyone, from safe to semi-adventurous, and flavors that read so deliciously that it's tough to make choices. they are happy to make recommendations based on your input, too. emphasis is on seafood, which they handle minimally and expertly, whether fried, in ceviche or anything else. there are meat and vegetarian options, too. we shared several plates among friends so we could all try new things, and none failed to wow us! so great to be presented terrific food with interesting ingredients and seasonings and textures out here in the desert, with quality comparable to any major city, and smiling, charming, efficient service so many spots here in our resort towns somehow manage to forget. the big room itself is lovely, and an indoor, AC'd, pet-friendly patio offers space should fido wish to join you. plated selections are as appetizing to the eye as to the mouth. our highlights were a cool peruvian blue and yellow potato terrine with shrimp, stellar ceviche with aji amarillo, and a mixed seafood platter delicately fried to perfection, sporting a flight of 4 marvelous and enticing sauces, and lucuma ice cream imported from Peru, a taste sensation that must be experienced (lucuma is a jungle fruit, and this ice cream initially tasted of true maple syrup, then yams, then finished a little citrus-y... amazing!). we wish Maria Jose and her team every success, and will be returning over and over to further adventure on her menu!
We Found a little gem with this place. The owner, Maria Jose, was charming and delightful to talk to. The food was very tasty, the service was excellent (thank you, Alfredo!) and the decor was very nice. Have a nice lunch or dinner at this beautiful Peruvian restaurant!
The food was delicious. I was really impressed by the unique flavors and seasonings. The one other time I had Peruvuan cuisine I wasn't bowled over, but this was outstanding. Maria was very helpful in explaining their dishes and made a great recommendation. The ceviche we chose was fantastic. The one thing I'd like to see is a better selection of white wine....a well chilled Torrontes or Verdejo with that ceviche would be awseome!
