rip off store. Prices double over Winco. Sometmes triple. Today i bought grilled chicken at the deli. Took it back. Too dry. Not worth eating. I got reimbursed. Last week i took back a birthday cake that nobody wanted to eat. The bakery lady (Mary) in Clayton told me they can sell bakery goods for 5 days. Are they kidding ? At Safeway prices i want the best, the freshest product, not a five day old cake. The store in Clayton is really really big and nice. Much nicer than the ones in Brentwood.

I am highly upset at the deli, I went in to get my usual order and the worker Melissa was in a rush seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. I order the club sandwich exactly how it comes. She kept asking what I wanted in my sandwich. Then she said she had to charge me extra for getting 2 meats but the "The Club" sandwich is supposed to come with both turkey and ham. Then instead of just placing the deli meat nicely she was tearing pieces apart. Highly upset and the only reason I bought my sandwich is because I was on my work lunch. They need to train her some more.

The WORST deli & sandwich department I have ever experienced. I have come quite a few times and they are so understaffed and the staff they DO have, are as SLOW as can be.

I live close by this location but try to avoid going there unless I'm in a hurry. Always long lines at checkout and selection is not great compared to other local stores.

I never Yelp anything but this location is horrible. I called to order a cake and after 15 minutes on hold trying to reach the bakery some woman at customer service answered and she had the nerve to tell me to hold so she could pickup a FaceTime call lol like what? I needed this dam cake because it was super last minute so whatever, maybe her FaceTime was important. She gets off her call & sarcastically takes my order. Because that's "not her job". I go pick it up the next day & no ones at the bakery. I had to reach out to an employee twice to get someone to give me my dam cake. After waiting at the counter for 20 min. I finally get the stupid cake lol its decorated horribly but at that point I just wanted to get the hell out of there. My point is, don't order cakes here lol they suck.

Safeway Drive Up & Go has been a lifesaver for me during Covid19. I don't know if they offered it before the pandemic but I hope they continue it. It makes shopping so easy and saves me time. Simply use the Safeway delivery and pick up app, choose a location and a time slot. When you arrive park in one of the designated spots and call. They bring your groceries out to your car. They are so nice and are always wearing a mask properly. Unfortunately they are not able to take tips. It's always been super quick and easy, no more than 5 minute wait.

Disgusting management and employees m food is rotten and gross. Management needs to be fired for how they treat customers and fellow employees from what I've seen. Just inhuman and sickening

Lupe in the Deli is the nicest lady who takes so much pride in her job. She was so sweet and so professional. She did such a great job making my sandwich order. Lupe is truly a great worker and Safeway is lucky to have someone like her serving their customers. I give Lupe 5 stars! Great Job LUPE!

Must wear a mask to go into the store now and cannot bring in your own bags. This is a smaller store than the one on Balfour in Brentwood so sometimes it's not well-stocked. Although I was shocked to find that there were quite a bit of single rolls of toilet paper for sale.

Always reminds me to never come back every time I come here. Our line was literally stopped for 10 mins waiting on a manager Christin to respond to his calls he sent to the whole store. She was at self checkout the whole time and took a customer freakout for her to respond. Much less only 2 lines open at 5pm and no express lanes.

This store is always poorly stocked and the layout is terrible. Every once in a while we think we will give them a try again. Again tonight we were reminded how poorly managed this store is. The eggs were very thinly stocked and most were broken. The milk selection was not much better. Drive the couple of extra miles to a real grocery store.

Tried the online ordering expecting there to be crazy lines on a Sunday evening so close to Christmas, but ended up forgetting to add a few items to the list so we went inside anyways. I went in, connected with the employee who processes the deliveries and let her know we had to grab some additional items we forgot to include. She was so helpful and patient, and even though they were out of some of the items we wanted she really went the extra mile to fill in the gaps, and didn't lazily choose replacements she really put herself in our shoes to make sure what she replaced it with made sense. Alyssa you're an awesome employee, keep up the great work ethic and positive attitude. Would definitely try this service again at this location.

The service is sooooooooooooo slow. I literally waited for so long to check 4 items at self checkout. I'll be sure to go to another Safeway next time.

I will NEVER step foot in this safeway again Every time I step in there I kick myself realizing that after I have finally got my shopping done the lines are ridiculous I mean the Tuesday before thanksgiving and 2 checkers. Just shut this location down already. I counted 22 people in 2 lines. I mean are you kidding me. I asked the checker on lane 5 to call for additional checkers and she rolled her eyes at me. Then 10 min later I asked her is she would be kind enough to call a manager. She finally did and called for " assistance " of the manager upstairs. I had 200 worth of groceries ( oh and a frozen turkey ) because the fresh turkeys were frozen And NOT one package of bread cubes to be found. That being said and having Been in this area for 25 years thank you Sean for stepping up and calling the next customer over. You need a raise, oh and the managers position because she never made her way down the stairs. Good luck 2nd street Safeway but I will never step foot in there again. I will Also be contacting Safeway corporate because this has been an ongoing problem for years and the manager is apparently not making any changes Thank you Again Sean for stepping up. It was much appreciated Wishing everyone a beautiful Thanksgiving

I just called looking for watercress. I give 2/5 because the produce section answered the call. When I asked if watercress was available, the response was "I'd have to walk down the aisle to see." Silence. No offer to look. I felt that asking him to check would be a huge imposition so I hung up.Daughter called Winco, they said yes and visually confirmed watercress was available. Thanks Safeway, but I think bagging my own groceries and better customer service is on my agenda.
