This place was recommended to us after a memorial service. I ordered the carne asada with a cheese enchilada. My food was particularly spicy for just being carne asada and cheese enchilada. I am not a spicy person. I must say that there were no descriptions on the menu. I knew what this item was because I asked about it. But when I asked this is the only description we received.
I was unable to finish it. Enchilada seemed really good when I kept scraping the top off. The carne asada was pre-cut into diced squares. I wasn't too thrilled about that. The beans were really good and because of the spiciness I just never got to my rice.
The service was very friendly. The only drawback is that there's no clear direction if you order at the counter or at the table. They did come to the table and bring us menus. When we asked for the checks, the waitress stated she would be bringing them to us, but it seemed like she forgot. We finally had to go up to the counter and take care of it. The decor was ethnic, and the tables were all very clean.

Overall, it was a lovely experience, but it would not be my first choice.
Respectfully, my suggestions would be to update the menu with a description of the meals and to State whether they're spicy or not. As for payment options it would be great if they would have some direction as to where they would like you to pay at. With these updates I am certain they can get higher ratings.

Food is delicious! Ambiance is great. I was just surprised at getting home to find that I was charged a 9.25% tax. Is a restaurant tax higher?

This place has good potential. I love the ducks. It's a big park with lots of trees and walk paths. Could be a beautiful scenery, but the debris takes away from the site.

Taqueria Bernardino’s has been a staple in Ridgecrest for as long as I can remember. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and it’s one of those rare places that still feels just as good now as it did back then. It’s not just a restaurant—it’s part of the community.

The food is always solid. Whether it’s the carne asada burrito, street tacos, or a plate of enchiladas, everything is packed with flavor and made fresh. Their salsa bar is always stocked, and the portions are generous without being over the top. You can tell they take pride in what they serve.

What really makes this place special, though, is the atmosphere. It’s super family-friendly, relaxed, and welcoming. The staff treats you like they’ve known you for years—even if it’s your first time walking in. It’s the kind of spot where families gather after games, or people meet up for a casual lunch and good conversation.

In a town where a lot of places come and go, Bernardino’s has stayed consistent—and that says a lot. Easily one of my favorite spots in Ridgecrest, and I’ll keep coming back for years to come.

Service was amazing but food majorly missed the par as far as portion size. Had 2 California burritos and they definitely could have been a lot fuller. Really disappointed I expected them to be stuffed more, especially for $30 for 2 burritos.

They have plenty of gluten free options and know what you are talking about when you mention gluten free. The food is very tasty

I love going here to eat! The food is great and the staff is excellent!

Dietary restrictions: When I order my favorite dish, the Mexican Steak Fries, or anything else, they are very good about leaving off the items I can't eat.

Parking: If they aren't busy, I can usually park right in front of the door or close to it. If not, there is parking all the way around the building.

Wheelchair accessibility: Doors open wide enough, and the bathroom has a wheelchair stall. Tables have chairs that can be moved easily. There aren't any booths, so you can sit at any of the tables.

Can't speak on the rest of the menu, since I only get a 30 min lunch, so I go for the fastest item they have which is the fiesta salad with grilled chicken and it's ???, I don't know if I can call an order ahead of time, that'll probably give me a chance to order something different for lunch.

The food and service is great! Never dined in but atmosphere has been pleasant when I pick up my food.
This is the only place in town in which I know I don't have to check my order before leaving the restaurant. My wife must be cursed because her orders are always wrong, but Bernardinos always gets it right!
Our go-to's are the macho burrito, carnitas plate, chilaquiles, enchiladas, and tostada.

The restaurant was cute and we instantly got seated and served.
We got the taco salad and Mexican burger and it was absolutely delicious. Each came with a mini muffin for dessert as well.

The food was gross.. if I wanted microwaved food I would have stayed home and reheated leftovers. The weight staff was nice though.
