I've loved their coffee ever since before they moved to Oak, back when they were in the Rio Linda boulevard parking lot. Literally always the best thing that would get me through my shift at the McDonald's across the parking lot. I used to frequently get Irish cream with double shot of espresso and cream menthe syrup. I always enjoyed the unique flavors of whipped cream that they would come up with for the flavor of the day/week.
I was so sad to see their old place vacant, but I'm so happy to find that it's because they moved to Oak. Will definitely be there next time I'm out in Sacramento 😁😁

I usually have such good experiences with the staff. But I came to get a coffee and there were two girls ahead of me in line. I thought it would be quick and easy like it normally is. But one of the girls walked behind the counter and started making her own drinks, taking an excess amount of time, talking to the baristas and just being overall inconsiderate. Especially for somebody who appears not to be working. I stood behind the other girl for no less than 15 minutes. In that time, none of the baristas acknowledged what was happening and nobody said anything. Once the girl, who from background conversation I gathered was related to the owner, finished making her drinks she rudely told the baristas to "hurry up and take that customers order". The barista did not say anything about the girl or the situation. It was more than frustrating to stand there and just wait for seemingly nothing.

I would definitely change the name of this place to Country Coffee House or Rio Coffee House, “Java” usually makes us run away!
The latte here tastes really good!, better than some of the fancy ones in downtown. The Jesus music is what I liked the most, I wish there was more Jesus things though :) really loved the roosters crowing right outside in the morning.

Since I discovered them right before they move I don’t go anywhere else! Service is great they’re kind and courteous they make the best Kona rageous drinks! I take all my visiting family and friends there and it has become their favorite too ! They love to go there whenever they visit. I love to see the kids playing in their little section even though mine are all grown. Such a great atmosphere 💚 and their regular coffee is tasty too Starbucks doesn’t even come close!. Lastly I love to support Christian businesses and I love that they support small local businesses
Thank you Rio Java for being such a great and homey shop!

Great at what it is trying to be. This is not third wave coffee, or fanciness. This is comfort, good service a nice place to hang out and reasonably priced food and drinks. Absolutely crushing it on that mission.

If you are looking for the absolute best gourmet cup of coffee or avocado toast... Perhaps not. But - very solid versions of food and drink for much less - definitely.

Recommended.

Went in for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee, super tasty and very friendly service! A very cozy coffee shop with plenty of space. Can’t wait to return!

Kid-friendliness: Small play area in side, great for littles!

This place is very expensive. I don’t like how they treated me. I was waiting for a while and other people that came in and placed their orders. Got their orders first before me. Then when I asked the lady she was kind of rude a little bit. And the drinks here are very expensive. Nine to $10. Too expensive for my taste.

Amazing, unique selection of coffee that doesn't taste burnt. All the staff are so kind and always make my white mocha with raspberry syrup exactly the way I like it :)) Cynthia is so sweet and so are the rest of the staff. Also I'm happy to support a local, Christian business.

Messed up both my drinks and didn’t cook my food for over 20mins I had to remind the kid works where my food !! Drinks were made so bad this is never like this very deserving that they care to talk more then to make the drinks and food I seen this worker pick favs with customers and the drinks fast even skip people line for her buddy’s! I paid 25 for 2 drinks taste burnt and a sandwich that took 20 mins to remember she had to cook I’m over this place and how slow they are not the 1st time ! Every time 15 to 20 mins for a drink

Love this place, been coming since 1990's!! They moved, and they are in the original parking lot from the 90's! (not too far from Elkhorn Blvd.) Thank goodness they are still open! Love ya Rio-Java!!!!

Dietary restrictions: They have a ton of options for every diet!

Kid-friendliness: Have a cute set-up for the kids inside. (Little table/coloring ect.)
