I ordered a Caldo de res (Beef soup) to go. It comes with fresh handmade corn tortillas (3) a small container that has half Rice and half cilantro/onion. I didn't expect the rice to be accompanied with the side veggies nonetheless the rice and Soup was delicious!

This restaurant is intimate and full of character. More restaurants like this used to exist, and are slowly fading out, so I was glad to be back in this environment and feel comforted by all the small touches and home-like vibes.
We ordered the birria de chivo and it was full of flavor. The portion size was generous and very filling, and it was also affordably priced! The tortillas a mano made it even better.
The servers were kind and attentive, and seemed to truly care about the customers.
We ordered burrito to go to bring to Yosemite and many visitors at the park stopped to ask where we got it because it looked so good, so it’s also a great place to stop and order to go if you don’t have time to sit down!

I was looking for some breakfast in the area of Riverbank. I was craving a breakfast burrito and I googled and was led to El Jacalitio. My 1st experience was a lasting one and definitely won't be the last. I had a chorizo breakfast burrito which was great. I have since been back on numerous occasions with my family. This is by far the best Mexican food not only in Riverbank but in the surrounding Modesto area. Don't take my word for it, go visit and experience delicious authentic Mexican food, great service, and a great place to eat. Great job

I love Mexican food. I tried every Mexican food on a 30 miles radius and El Jacalito has the best food. Is not a fancy restaurant. Is a small place with very nice people and outstanding food. I love Menudo and let me tell you they have the absolute best Menudo I ever ate hands down. Every weekend me and my wife we go there for Menudo. Huge bowl with the yummiest taste I ever ate and I've been to many Mexican restaurants. The servers are very nice and friendly and will do anything to make your visit a great experience. If you want to impress your friends with some fancy location go somewhere else but if you want to eat real Mexican food and feel like home El Jacalito is the perfect spot.
