I normally eat here and the ambience is amazing. Sometimes I get it 2 go when I’m really busy and it’s just as good. The staff is friendly and very attentive to your needs.

I ve returned to backstreet,,still an amazing experience. The potato salad has changed, from the original. It has a lot of crunch veggies in it. The banana cream pie has changed also, I didn't get the experience of more crust, and filling. The taste was mostly too much cream. However, I still 😉 enjoy always the overall customer care.thankyoufor the years.

The very best RoastBeef Sammy I have ever had. To the left of the veggie bar, you can find a picture frame loaded with the history of the place. Supper good pie! But I am just amazed by the Roatbeef because I don't even like RoastBeef but Loved theirs!

Great little quaint sandwich shop with welcoming staff! They are quick with the orders and are happy to answer any questions you may have. I ordered a Reuben sandwich on rye with a side of potato salad and I thought it was very tasty! I will say that the pies were not quite what I was expecting. However, the atmosphere in the outdoor seating area that they offer more than makes up for it! Plenty of shade, lots of seats, not too cramped, and tons of quirky, interesting decorations. Will absolutely come back again!

I have been a patron of Backstreet since my folks and I moved to Riverside in 1977. Throughout the years the food and service has been consistently excellent. That was until I came in with my sister and niece two weeks ago. To begin, we get in line, along with other customers, and not one employee saying "Welcome". The previous owners/employees were exceptionally friendly, well not now. As we reach the counter, the menu list has changed, is very plain and prices have gone up while food quality has declined. We decided to only order one sandwich to try given we didn't know how it was going to taste. This brings me to the use of Stater Bros brand bread. I am thoroughly disappointed that the new Backstreet owners are using store brand bread that even I don't use because of the cheapness of it. I asked for sourdough and honestly am not sure what I was given. I didn't get a chance to taste the potato salad, but the experience at the veggie cart was a mess. Soggy pickles, pasta salad wasn't cold and looked like it had seen better days. The cucumbers and onions were falling apart. This experience has made me so sad. The ambience that I've known and expected from Backstreet is gone. The delicious food and happy employees, which have been a staple at Backstreet, are gone. I'm sorry to say that I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, any longer.

I went to Backstreet for the 1st time today with a friend. We wanted sandwiches. The man serving asked my friend if she wanted halve or full. She said full. He did not ask me but made my sandwich anyway. When we got to the table, i saw my friend had 2 halves & i had one. I went back to ask. The man told me that he gave me halve. My question was, why did you decide to give me halve without asking me? It may sound like no big deal. To me it was a big deal. He found it necessary to ask my friend who had a different color from me and did not care to ask me. I ordered from the hot side (roast beef) but it was cold. After my complaint they asked me if i wanted the other halve. I said yes and also mentioned that the halve i had was cold. Well the second halve was hot. Why had he not given me the hot i ordered for? We both ordered potato salad. My friends portion was bigger than mine. So my first experience was not so good. Was it because of my.skin color? My friend had her order perfect. That said, do not hesitate checking them out. Mine could be one isolated case. And they did not charge me for the other halve. Not sure if i will return there again
