Overall, the food was good and we enjoyed trying almost everything on the menu, including the mezcal and the special of the day: tostadas de cabeza.
While the service started out well, it became inconsistent as the place got busier. The lady who was helping us disappeared, and no one returned to check on our table. I eventually had to flag down another person to order more items. This is an independent family owned business and we enjoy the casual atmosphere, but I wanted to bring this to your attention to help refine the service during peak hours.

Food i delicious and very authentic, the staff is amazing, best oaxacan food I've tasted. The mezcal with chapulines and quesillo hit the spot
I lived in Oaxaca for 15 years and this is the closest it gets to authentic food, from the folded tlayuda to the lettuce under the molote. Amazing food!
Really authentic .
I was really excited to try this place and I wanted to try everything...
Got a tamal de mole, tlayuda, quesadillas, and a mezcal shot.
Everything was so delicious!
The service was outstanding- everyone was really good at their job and super friendly!
Oh, I got the Oaxacan water as well.. it was refreshing !
For sure going back!
Cenaduría Oaxaqueña Donaji truly exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is set in a house with limited parking, but plenty of street parking nearby. Luckily, we found a spot inside. As we stepped under the large white tarp, we were welcomed like guests at a family gathering, I immediately felt at home. While waiting for our table, they kindly seated us next to a heater, making the experience even more comfortable. From there, we could watch the food being prepared, and it was nothing short of an art form. After a brief 15-minute wait, we were seated and ready to enjoy our meal. I tried a tlayuda for the first time, and it was absolutely delicious, loaded with quesillo, beans, and three types of meat: cecina, chorizo, and what appeared to be chuleta. The portions were incredibly generous. We also shared a quesadilla with epazote, which was just as flavorful. With those two dishes, my wife and I had more than enough to eat. To top it off, the café de olla was incredible, and the hot chocolate was simply exquisite. I highly recommend visiting this hidden Oaxacan gem in Riverside!
Everything was delicious!!! The tlayuda is a very good size and the hot chocolate is delicious.

Don’t let the location fool you, this is a great spot if you are craving Oaxacan food and don’t want to drive all the way to LA or OC. It is located in a local neighborhood, but there is plenty of parking and it feels very safe.
