Was looking at local Chinese fast food spots are around and this one popped up. Ratings were pretty good for the area. Service was prompt but they were slow as there weren't any guests in the dining area. Got my order to go. I selected their one item which includes chow mein, fried rice, and one item which was BBQ pork. The portion is generous, chow mein is good, rice is okay, and the pork was tender also. All in all a nice experience albeit a bit expensive.

I've been to more Chinese-American fast food spots all over SoCal and the rest of the country than I care to count, and usually get their 3 item combo to get a decent idea of their quality. So my go to is all steamed rice (for a solid base and no other flavors to get in the way from fried rice or chow mein, which I will try later if I find the place decent) with teriyaki chicken, orange chicken and BBQ pork (IMHO is the best way to gauge a restaurant's ability to deliver...

It was my first time at Hong Kong Express, and I was really impressed! The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were generous. The staff was welcoming and the service was fast. I’ll definitely be coming back!
