Food was fantastic and we ordered everything that was recommended. Had the Po Boy, Shrimp Tacos and Cajun Fries. Everything was fresh, hot and tasty! Wish we had room for the beignets but will be back for those next time.

Set inside the Downtown Riverside Food Lab, this place provides very friendly, helpful service and pretty good food. I ordered the Shrimp Quesadilla plus 6 wings. I was able to do half and half for the wings: Cajun Sweet Chile and Spicy Garlic. Both were good, but I probably would have liked the regular buffalo more.
The shrimp quesadilla could have used more cheese, but overall it was filling and delicious. They provided a side of sour cream and a side of ranch for the wings. For those 2 meals plus 1 medium fountain drink (unlimited refills btw), I paid about $20. Obviously plenty of seating in the nice atmosphere of the food lab, so that was an added bonus.
Overall I would come here again as the food was great and the menu is huge, so I would probably try out some other stuff they’ve got

Joel recommended Kicking Rice Bowl with shrimp, sausage and egg. I got a mango margarita to complete my meal and hands down the BOMB!!! He was amazing enough to give a water cup!! He was very sweet and helpful. My food was cooked fast. There was plenty of room to sit compared to other food sections. The egg with the rice was so good, the rice was fluffy. Sausage was soft until the skin but who doesn’t enjoy thick skin… lol the shrimp was perfectly cooked that sauce was just prepared with flavor and texture…

I want a refund on my tip! I was going to cancel my order and request a refund and then food was ready. The girl at cashier couldn't care less on my requests, questions or concerns. I asked for 1/2 of my order to come out while the "20 minute" food was made and she said yes. After 20mins I asked where 1/2 the order was she said they had other orders and mine was being made all together. Mind you ALL THE ORDERS WERE PLACED AFTER ME since there was only 1 customer before me that already had their meal!! I let her know my request again and all she cared to say was "your order is being made together" plain DGAF attitude since I started ordering. I would've been happier going to the drive thru on the way home. Now to try the food that all the reviews seem to say it's a hut or miss ?

First time going to the food lab and wanted to give this place a try. Ordered the popcorn shrimp and the jumbo shrimp skewer and garlic pasta. It was all delicious and the whole time I was worried because usually when I order these they aren't good quality from another place. Will definitely be coming back. Young man in the front doing cashier was nice too. 10/10

The cashier was very kind but the food definitely needs work. If you know what Cajun food is you know the taste of this food is definitely lacking. The minced garlic should be fresh instead of jarred as the flavor of the jarred minced garlic is way too over powering and throws everything off. We ordered the famous Cajun tacos, Cajun pasta and the famous shrimp tacos. All tasted of pure minced garlic. Definitely think this place could do well if they put a little love into their food and switched up the ingredients.

I have visited a few times and have had good and bad experiences. It seems to be hit or miss. The fries, wings, garlic noodles, and shrimp boil are tasty. When we ordered a shrimp boil to go a few days ago we opened the box and discovered a handful of lime wedges that had clearly been used -sucked on? one even had what looked like a black beard hair in it. The rice that accompanies the boil seemed old; it was both dry at the top and soggy on the bottom. We made our own rice at home. The sauce for the seafood boil was very flavorful and garlicky. The popcorn shrimp is bland and can use some more seasoning. The beignets are usually good and fresh but not long ago I brought a friend to try them and our beignet order was old, burnt and oily disguised with powdered sugar. I live in the area so I frequent the food lab and I enjoy this establishment I just think they need a little more consistency and fine tuning.
The seafood boil ramen was amazing. I also got a green apple green tea and it was refreshing. Will be coming back again.

This food hall is conveniently located about a block away from Mission Inn, where I was staying, and just north of the Fox Performing Arts Center. It's fairly large with quite a few dining and drinking options for lunch, dinner and dessert. After looking around, I ordered items to go from SoHo Ramen and Shrimp Shack Cajun Fusion, which are next to each other. From SoHo, I ordered a chashu bento box, which came with rice, steamed veggies, seaweed salad, 2 gyozas, miso-like soup and a soda. I would have liked to have tried the ramen, but didn't think it would travel well back to the hotel. Everything was tasty and a good value at $16.50. From Shrimp Shack, I got the Cajun shrimp and grits, my go-to order for Southern food. The dish was tasty, with a tomato-based sauce with sausage, peppers and onion, but 5 shrimp for the large amount of grits seemed a little skimpy. It was $14.50. I would have liked to have tried their fresh squeezed lemonade (also available as a refresher or hard) and their beignets, but I had my soda from Soho and beignets purchased in the morning from Beignet Spot. Several other spots I'd like to try in the future. There's a gaming place next door.

I've tried several restaurants inside the Food Lab, and I've enjoyed them all--some more than others. More recently, I tried shrimp tacos and fried fish tacos from the new Cajun restaurant, Shrimp Shack (where Dhat Creole used to be).I tried the shrimp tacos first, and I really enjoyed them. They definitely did NOT skimp on the shrimp! There was so much shrimp, a few of them fell out after a couple bites. These tacos are probably the most packed shrimp tacos I've ever had. The flavors are amazing, and they have just the right amount of sauce on them.The fish tacos are also good, but if I had to choose, I'd say the shrimp tacos are better. There's also a good amount of fish on the tacos, and they also had a good amount of sauce. The only negative for me is I felt the fish tacos were a bit too salty. The fish is also fried hard, so if you prefer it on the softer side, you may need to request that when you order.I plan to go back to try the beignets. I was too full after those tacos to try them. The service was good, and the gentleman who took my order was polite.NOTE: The seating area attached to the restaurant is small, and it was dirty when I went. I was there at least an hour, and no one came to clean the seating area even after people had gotten up to leave. With The Festival of Lights going on, I suggest if you go to the Food Lab to take disinfectant wipes to clean off your table, not matter where you choose to eat.Overall, this restaurant is decent. I'd go again to try other menu items to see what I like best.
