The duck blood and tofu in this restaurant are no longer optional, they need to be ordered a la carte. In the past, when Taiwanese friends came to visit, they would take them to this restaurant because it was just like eating in Taiwan. However, the duck blood and tofu ordered a la carte are completely tasteless. When I asked the proprietress, the answer I got was "We never add unlimited duck blood tofu", and she kept saying that it is expensive now, blabla. Well, I originally liked coming to her house not because of the unlimited discount of her duck blood tofu, but just because I wanted to be authentic, it would cost more to bring friends all the way to visit than to buy a portion of duck blood. The unlimited duck blood tofu is cooked at the bottom of the pot early in the morning, so it is very delicious, but it takes a lot of time to cook it after ordering it alone. Since the price increase is now denied, just think that I brought it to the wrong restaurant. This is not an authentic Taiwanese hotpot and I will not go there in the future.

Ah Lien owned by a small Taiwanese family may close by the end of this month due to slow business. This is one of the best hot pots and probably the last authentic Taiwanese hot pot in SoCal. The soup broth is tasty and authentic to Taiwanese flavors. They have a high quality and vast selection of meats. The service is fast & efficient as they are very quick with getting your orders. The price point may be a bit high compared to shabu shabu or AYCE places, but their quality is top notch. I've been a long time customer and I really do hope the community would come out and support this small business & the family one last time!

Restaurantji Recommends
Authentic Taiwanese hotpot with reasonable prices. My go-to is their half and half pot, half spicy (mala) and half sour cabbage. The best combination! Both came with tofu, so good. (Note: two soup bases would be charged around $14 per person, yes, they charge per person)All the hotpot ingredients are pretty fresh. Also, meat quality are good. Would recommend getting their spare ribs(排骨酥), tempura, duck blood to experience the true flavors of Taiwanese hotpot. Bonus points: you can do half order to try as many as you want!!!Overall, it’s a yummy Taiwanese hotpot place, and we love this place. Highly recommend.#bb13
One of the only Taiwanese spicy hot pot place left in SG Valley. The interior is a bit dated but it's clean. Staffs takes the order right away and food is served quickly. The flavor of the hot pot was amazing. We got the half & half soup base. Half spicy and half regular. If you cannot take too much spicy then let the server know so they can dialdown the spice level. The dinner was so good. All four of us are so full and satisfied. We will be back!
