It was a cold Friday evening and we're looking for Chinese food that is both hot and spicy. We came upon Miao Miao Xian in Rowland Heights. When we arrived, we were greeted with an adorable logo of a cat. AHHH! That explains the name. The restaurant is quite spacious inside and comes with an extensive menu of seafood and meat dishes. Their mission is to provide fresh, healthy and nutritious tasty food at reasonable prices in a clean and friendly environment

I had to leave the restaurant after sitting down. Obviously someone has been smoking inside and the restaurant staff ( I assume) were singing loud karaoke inside another room on a Tuesday at 7pm. No wonder we were the only customers there. Looks like they are not ready work. Thanks Did they get ownership change?

Let me start off by saying that I am someone who doesn't usually like szechuan Chinese food- BUT, I was blown away at how great the spice and tastes were! I had the roasted fish dragon gate style, chengdu spicy skewers, and the beef short ribs spicy griddle pot! The short ribs were my absolute favorite! I definitely recommend having a beer or two with these meals- best drinking food!

I love spicy food. My friends and I visited Miao Liao Xian and this is what we ordered: Combo meal A - The grilled medaka fish was served in a gigantic pan along with soft tofu, potato, lotus slice, qq sausage, and enoki mushroom. I enjoyed the variety of different ingredients in this one. However, the dish was on the saltier side so I recommend enjoying it with a warm bowl of rice. Beef Short Ribs in Griddle Pot - This had a pretty cool presentation served on a shovel. A mountain of short rib piled next to crispy fries and spicy sauce. Zebra Dumplings - Interesting. The zebra pattern on the dumpling skin was unique. As for the taste, they're just a normal dumpling with meat filling. My friends enjoyed them since they're not a huge fan of spicy foods. Chengdu Spicy Skewers - Mmm spicy skewers in spicy broth. There are skewers of tripe, seaweed, fungus, lotus root, bean curd, and more. I became obsessed with spicy skewers after I ate something similar in Vancouver. I was definitely craving this and enjoyed this one the most. We shared the dishes family-style since the portion sizes were pretty generous and we wanted to try a bit of each dish. The food was mild spicy in my opinion, and even my friend who can't handle spice could eat it. Since they specialize in Szechuan cuisine, I expected the flavors to be stronger and more spicy/ numbing. Not sure if it was an off day but the service was just okay. We had to flag our server down for water refills, more napkins, etc. Also they got one of our orders wrong. We told the server we ordered the seafood griddle pot but received the beef short rib instead. Overall, it's a decent place for Szechuan food. If you like spicy, you may want to order the dishes extra spicy.

Ordered here through UberEats on Valentines Day. It was a part of the promotional free delivery so I decided to give this place a try since I do like szechuan food. Couldn't figure out what to order so I relied on yelp. Ordered their crawfish with garlic, beef meat pie, and their shanghai dumplings (xiao long baos). Honestly, I only ordered through this restaurant because they had good reviews plus I like szechuan food due to the spicies. The crawfish stated it would've been mild spicy with garlic but there were no szechuan spice but definitely had a good amount of garlic. Flavor was kind of bland. Xiao long baos were typical as anywhere else. Meat pie were almost like empanadas. Crispy shell filled with meat but i felt like my meat pies were very thinly packed. It wasn't juicy but wasn't bad either. Otherwise, I felt like portions were great. Otherwise, I would like to give this place another try hoping to try some dishes with some good szechuan spices.

The short ribs came with crunchy fries, dressed in a spicy sauce. So delicious!! The cod fish came in a spicy broth, packed with all kind of ingredients such as mantis shrimp, lotus roots, and mushroom. The meal ended on a perfect note with Glutinous Rice Dumplings, a lovely ending to cool down all of the spices. If you’re still undecided on what to eat this weekend, come here! I guarantee you will have a great time!!⁣
