Big menu spicy everything shop that's got a lot of flavors in various meats, veggies and tofu. The spicy fish head is very good and I liked the spicy sliced lamb too. They do perhaps more take out business than dining in, which is a good sign that there's a lot of local support.
The Hunan restaurant recommended by a friend has many branches in LA.

You can eat authentic Hunan food here, not the Hunan food that caters to Americans, but it is only Hunan food. If you try to order Sichuan food or other cuisines, you may not meet your requirements.
