Delicious food. A large variety of dishes. Reasonable prices with great service!
Great place for keto-friendly meat skewers!
A busy place during mother's Day 💐❤️ but the food is very good and tasty 😋 the lamb kabobs are great
Delicious and wonderful service at this lovely family run restaurant 😍
This is my first experience eating Afghani food, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I got a takeout order, but I guess it was up to me to say that I was going to be eating it by myself and I needed some utensils, because they gave me nothing but my food which was kind of a shock when I got back to my hotel room. 😕 Thankfully, the front desk of the hotel knows this kind of thing happens and they had some spares for me.
I wanted to try Quabili Pallaw as I'd read that was the classic Afghani dish. I didn't want lamb, so they helpfully suggested I order it without meat then get an order of Kabab-E-Gaw. It also came with some bread.
The portion sizes were quite large, and dishes are definitely meant to be shared. I should have asked if they did half orders, or what they might recommend for a single diner, because sadly I had to throw out quite a bit of food.
The food itself was surprisingly lacking in flavor. Again, I had never eaten this kind of food before, so I have nothing to compare it to. But typically I would expect some kind of spice or flavoring to be added, but it was incredibly bland.
The stewed beef was very high quality meat, and very tender, but it tasted like what I would get in an Irish stew, which was quite surprising. It should be very flavorful based on how it looked, but it really wasn't. The bread was fresh and warm, but bland. The rice with carrots and raisins was good, but lacking in much flavor.
It could be that I simply ordered the wrong thing to try out Afghani food for the first time, and it also could be that this restaurant is amazing for the type of food they serve, but I can't say that I will seek out this kind of food again based on this experience. Still, I'm glad I gave it a try!

My family has eaten here occasionally since the late 90s and was last here almost 10 years ago. We came to eat with friends in early October 2024 and were pleasantly surprised to find the consistent quality in the food and the service. The dining room is clean and nicely decorated with Afghan artifacts. We will be happy to come again.

Best Afghani food in the bay area! Tablecloths. Nice ambiance. Good variety of dishes on the menu, and they're all delicious. What really sets them apart is the service; they are always personable, attentive and often funny. Highly recommended!

It was my first time at Kabul Afghan Cuisine. Foods were decent. The veggie Ghormeh was very bland, but the chicken kabobs were juicy and good. Service was fast, but I have to mention that we got there before 5.

Lively place and great food. Staff was super friendly. I had lamb dumplings smothered in yogurt and veggies. Get the green hot sauce, it's great dipping for the bread!

Very good restaurant! It's a must-try if you want to have a taste of Afghanistan food. You won't be disappointed!
Kabul in San Carlos is located in a strip mall off El Camino. Unassuming but the food! We love the Kadu (side entree of pumpkin with yogurt sauce and sautéed hamburger in top). Also the Quabili pulaw which is a rice dish mixed with raisin and lamb and carrots. It’s our go to place when we have out of town guests who want to eat something ethnic. They make excellent mango lassi- not too sweet. Their hot cardamom team is also good.
