Absolutely wonderful food. Amazing atmosphere. Very dog friendly but you must sit outside to bring a dog. We had dinner and desert with a few glasses of amber qvevri, and enjoyed every drop! Shalva was incredibly friendly and told many jokes. I would highly recommend this place.

Decent food and very good wine! I am Georgian myself and I was pleasantly surprised how authentic food tasted! We LOVED lobio, kharcho, ajapsandali, khinkali and khvanchkara wine.
Great place with delicious food and very friendly owners. We’ve ordered quail, khachapuri, and kompot. The food was great and service was wonderful. We will be back!

Had dinner here with somebody who lost their stomach to cancer and their verdict was "I don't get hungry anymore but this is delicious enough to make sure I eat until I can't anymore" which sums it up pretty well. Delicious, fairly generous portions. Absolutely must try at least one item from bread section!

I would like to improve my previous review of Tamari. We went back there again, and we absolutely loved everything we ate. The food is very authentic and delicious. We had a seasonal compote which was made with Cornelius cherries that are very rare and it was fantastic. We also had Khacapuris, Ajapsandali, a couple of dishes with mushrooms, and the cold combo platter. Again, I can only praise the food and service. The owner was warmed up to us, and we had some nice chitchat. We are going back there. For sure.
Previous review:
We had good Georgian food, but it could have been improved by adding a bit more salt to things like adjapsandali. It was a bit unfortunate that there was no bread we could order to eat pkhali with, but we ordered another khachapuri, which was great. We liked the food in general. The owner definitely cares about serving authentic georgian food, which we appreciate. I would say, as someone born in Georgia and raised with Georgian food, the food is as good as it gets outside of Georgia, unless maybe you are in Russia. The restaurant itself is clean, orderly, and well decorated. It was though pretty empty when we visited, which didn't bother us. The owner was attentive to our needs, which we appreciated.

Tamari opened my taste buds like few restaurants have in the Bay Area. Shalva, the very friendly owner, passionately and authentically shares his love for Georgian cuisine, which subtly blends Mediterranean , middle eastern, Russian and northern Indian flavors.

Absolutely delicious Georgian food, fantastic wine, chill ambience, and lovely service. Highly recommend this place! We had the kupati, lamb shank, and, of course, the acharuli khachapuri (no egg), all of which we happily recommend, especially that cheese bread. The mukuzani wine paired quite well with the food. We'll certainly stop by if we're ever in San Carlos again!

we didn't like it! As soon as we entered it was clear that we were not welcome here. The hall was practically empty, except for three guys who were sitting at a corner table. They brought the menu, we don’t know whether it was the waiter or the owner of the establishment. We were 4 adults and three children. We wanted to order khinkali for everyone, to which we were rudely answered ‘What are you doing?! We don’t have enough to make them, we need 45 minutes!!!!’ Are you serious?!? After that, he quickly left, calmed down, offered compote, and ordered to order something else besides khinkali. A couple more people came in and snatched the menu from us and handed it to the new entrants, we didn’t even have time to order dessert. After us, we were served by a woman who, also with big surprised eyes, was surprised at our request to bring tea for 6 people, ‘What?! Right at six?! She coped with this task with difficulty (The impression was, to put it mildly, not very good, we did not get the pleasure we wanted.
