We frequent Shiki at least monthly. The variety on the menu is very good, no complaints about the quality of the food or raw fish, they typically have seating, and I have no complaints about the service. Overall it's a great last minute choice in a packed San Carlos/Redwood City area.

Terrific happy hour and great options. Sushi is very fresh and their service seems to be improving. They had a good band playing in the bar that was just the right noise level to enjoy but not make you have to raise your voice to talk to your table.

Yaki ramen is the only dish we'd recommend. The kid's meal is very cutely displayed, but at $12.99 - quite pricey. Udon is average. Rolls are less than impressive (something about the sushi rice they didn't quite get right). Edmamme is soggy.

We felt rushed and the rolls seemed to be warm as if sitting out for a while. Like they were pre-made. It doesn't appear to be as fresh.

We did not go for sushi, but just for some good Japanese food. My husband's dinner arrived before we finished the soup & salad. I had to wait until he was almost done for my dinner... The dinner plates were freezing cold. This is in contrast to the tea and tea cups which were almost too hot to the touch. I needed a napkin to hold mine. ( no handles ). The food was fairly good, but not great...It would be much better on a hot plate for the cold winter night. But the real issue was not any of the above it was the techno music that constantly played over and over again. It made me feel nervous. I understand they want to be modern , but what amount some nice mellow slow jazz??

It was really busy for dinner, full house. Arrived too early for reservation so we grabbed seats at the sushi bar. Playoff baseball on TV. Friendly, happy crowd. Good food. Good service.

We have gone to Shiki Bistro for years with friends.Their happy hour is a real value. It concludes at 6:00 p m, but features $5 Chardonnay, $3 Beer and $3 and $5 small plates. We enjoyed many of them, including edamame and tuna poke.Ultimately we spent $60 per couple, but had wonderful tempura, calamari, Rainbow Roll and California Roll.Service has improved. It was a great night, though noisy.

I've been here many times and the sushi is consistently delicious. We typically order the handrolls, the honey walnut rolls, the devil's roll, etc. Always good and hasn't disappointed.

The sushi is always delicious at Shiki as well as the ramen. However, the cocktails at the bar weren't very good. None of us were able to take more than 2-3 sips of our drinks. They seemed off.

We had a nice birthday dinner...Taylor had beef udon and I had chicken udon and Brandon and daddy had pork ramen. It was nice having a carafe of water and nice to park in the lot. They don't provide any special thing for birthdays.

Great Japanese food at Shiki Bistro. We went because we had a gift card to Shiki. The food was fresh and very well prepared. It was a little on the pricey side (about $60 for dinner for two, including one appetizer but no alcoholic drinks), but that's probably not shocking nowadays for nicer dining. Anyway, great Japanese food. The only downside is that we were seated next to a table with "active" (loud) toddlers, so the decibel level was higher than we were hoping for on a romantic evening out, but the food quality overweighed the sound level. We'd certainly go again, an hope for (or request) seating in a quieter area.

I have been to this restaurant many times over the last few years however the prices keep going up and the portions are much smaller than in the last. It's a good value for lunch but highly over priced for dinner.

The food was great and so was the service. It was a fairly quiet night. Location is great on Laurel street. Nice for a stroll after. Actually sauntered down the block to Town for dessert and drinks.

We go to Shiki almost every week. Good sushi, nice, hip atmosphere, roomy — we like to sit in the booths. Good for families. Service is a little uneven. Sometimes it takes us a while to flag down a server for more napkins or chopsticks, etc. Food always arrives quickly. (Sometimes too quickly and I wish they would space it out a bit.) Overall, we are happy with Shiki and would recommend it to friends who like sushi.
