I was concerned to see that the staff didn’t use gloves while preparing the food—even when handling toppings like tomatoes and onions. There was a noticeable lack of hygiene. The food was delicious.
I placed a pickup order through DoorDash for 7 sandwiches and 2 salads, and added one more sandwich in person when I arrived. It ended up taking over an hour to prepare 8 sandwiches and 2 salads. When I arrived, the staff made it known that he was the only one making sandwiches, while the cashier stood by and did nothing to help.
The store was clearly overwhelmed—multiple customers were turned away, and the lone sandwich maker was audibly frustrated, saying he was doing everything by himself. I understand being short-staffed, but accepting large orders while knowing you can’t fulfill them in a timely manner is just poor management.

Wow. Just wow. The Sandwich Spot has completely redefined what a sandwich can be. Mine was an absolute symphony of flavor and texture – truly flawless. It's going to be incredibly difficult to enjoy any other sandwich after experiencing this level of deliciousness. Five stars isn't enough!

Very friendly
No gloves worn when making sandwiches here. They dont have them.
Bare Hand Contact:
Food handlers are generally prohibited from direct contact with ready-to-eat food with their bare hands and should use gloves or utensils.
Hygiene:
Gloves should be changed frequently, and hands should be washed thoroughly before and after glove use, especially when switching to a new pair.
This is the best Dutch crunch sandwich I’ve ever had. I’ve traveled around the world and even live close to an Ike’s in San Francisco. This place beats the Dutch crunch sandwich at Ikes hands-down. Way better than subway sandwiches and Mr. pickles.
Definitely worth a drive from San Francisco for this hidden gem sandwich lunch and breakfast spot in San Carlos. The Dutch crunch bread came warm, was soft in the inside crispy on the outside and was a thick piece of bread versus the too soft thin Dutch crunch at Ike’s. The pepperoncini was unique and delicious, the felt meats were super fresh and filling.
The staff is friendly and I was able to place an order over the phone for pick up before a soccer and tennis game. A warm toasted Dutch crunch was waiting for me when I arrived. I decided to dine in and there was a clean table ready for me. The gentleman that runs the shop was super nice, and I even forgot the item and he helped me retrieve the personal item I forgot there. He chatted with the family and we saw other families and kids there as well.
Super family friendly local spot with the best dutch crunch bread sandwiches in the Bay Area.
Plenty of street parking, clean restaurant, and fast service. Highly recommended.
It’s my favorite thing when I look up the hours on google maps AND their website, just to drive out of my way and show up to a closed shop ❤️❤️❤️
This place is bomb!!! Got the 19 with Dutch crunch bread and was in heaven through the last bite. Highly recommend!
Very friendly and excellent service. Thank You

The people were nice. We had came in on Wednesday right before thanksgiving. They were closing around 2, and we walked in at 1:45. The people were nice and made the sandwiches fresh. Much better than subway sandwiches IMO. Would recommend #8 for the spice lovers and #1 is also good
The guy who owns this place takes pride in being the most insufferable and rude man in all of San Carlos. Only reason people go here is because it’s basically the only sandwich shop in the city. I recommend going to Redwood City (Ike’s, or even the other sandwich spot for a better alternative). Don’t care for the chit-chat, just make me my sandwich and I’ll be on my way!

Awful service. The owner is…interesting. Sandwiches are not even close to the quality of the place downtown.
