Wow great food, cool place, good service! This is fine grill dining with a big selection but higher prices overall. Delicious.

I miss the Pappy McGregor's, it's just not the same anymore with Craft House Kitchen here now. They painted the place grey inside which has a cold feeling vs the warm comfortable brown color which used to have a fire pit outside in the back but they got rid of. The other thing I hate is the darn hotel in the back, you have people looking out their hotel windows right into the restaurant it's just very uncomfortable period, they look right at people eating or drinking in the back. They never should of sold that back parking lot because there was no hotel there as it was all private but not anymore that's all gone. Also what I don't like is it's full of tourists hardly any locals and two there's no imported beers, it's all local lousy beers where the Pappy McGregor's had all the great imported beers on tab. I knew the original owners of 1865, it's nothing like it was but Pappy McGregor's back in 2010 brought that back after it was abandoned for several years, they brought in great Irish food, great beer, live Irish music etc where they didn't change anything until Craft House kitchen came, that's where it was all changed after that, sorry but I just don't like what Craft House Kitchen did to the place. Pappy McGregor's was mostly locals which was good for the community but that is all gone now. The developers from the hotel next door expanded their hotel after Pappy McGregor's and just completely ruined the privacy, it basically made the place for tourists which really saddens a lot of people now. No longer a gem for San Luis Obispo. I added the original Pappy McGregors so people can see what I'm talking about how better it was before vs now what it is.

I went in for the happy hour specials. I got the brussel sprouts and the cheeseburger for $10 each. The service was great and the food was delicious. Almost forgot to mention the beignets, they are amazing and moist. I cant wait to go back.

DONT GET THE FRIED RICE- the tofu is terribly salty and the rice tastes eggy and lacks a saucy flavor.French fries also terribly salty.Brussel sprouts were good, atmosphere was good, service was good .

Food looked good but was bland and not seasoned. Tried chicken and waffle and hot chicken sandwich and it was not good, too greasy, chicken skin was fried on the outside but not on the inside, very weird texture.

The best filet mignon I've eaten in my whole life. Worth travelling again all the way from Romania to San Louis Obispo just to visit this restaurant and eat their filet mignon.

Great food and drinks, but service could use improvement. Overall, a solid experience that falls just short of a perfect rating. Despite service quirks, I'd definitely return for the fantastic food and drinks. Ideal for a charming date night experience.

Food was pretty good. Liked the kung pao brussels, and thought the spicy chicken sandwich was tasty too. Fried rice eater seemed underwhelmed, but the salmon entree got praise. Service was not where it should be. Took way too long to get our drinks, and no apology for the delay. Server didn't remember who ordered what. Dishes not cleared even long after we were done eating.Fairly quiet evening at the restaurant, but I could see how a nice vibe is very possible.

What a gem! We stayed at La Quinta next door and had to try this amazing place. Drinks were exquisite. The food was excellent and the ambiance was cool & sophisticated. We had the California Crabcakes, and shared the 1865 Craft Burger with Garlic Parmesean Fries. Delicious, tasty and filling. We ended with the scrumptious beignets. They were perfectly crispy and delectable. Must try. Highly recommend.

I must say, after a long day of running, I usually demolish my food as soon as I get it but as soon as I took first bite things were different had very complex taste to it, prime meat was phenomenal(medium rare of course) like how the smashed potatoes and broccoli complemented each other seasoned the right amount, I also had the mushroom Alfredo for the carbs, Over all experience was amazing severs were very respectful didn't really bother to much either, if your just a person that just like to enjoy the food highly recommend this place well worth the money.(They have a very talented chef a master of the craft of culinary arts even had me praying for the food after I took first bite) amen.)
