Visiting SLO for a wedding and decided to drop by this spot for coffee and a small bite. The coffee was "ok", the pastry selection is limited, but the chicken quesadilla was bomb. Overall, a great spot to catch-up with good company. The staff was friendly. Would recommend.

Best coffee I had so far on my Cali trip
Okayish beans, but the coffee/milk ratio was completely messed up, now I’m sad

Been a regular since it was Bello maybe 10 years ago, quality tanked over the last year with an under supported staff. Ownership changed recently and they're Kin coffee level trash that shouldn't be supported , all of the core staff bailed on them. Cold half toasted bagels, un drinkable drip coffee with sadly undrinkable lattes from a place that used to Arguably have some of the best coffee in maybe the state .

Vibe/Atmosphere = Great
WiFi = Great
Very cool vibe here, unfortunately the coffee was just ok for the latte (fairly watered down) and the two baristas must not have had their coffee for the day. Both were very disinterested and seemed more interested in gossiping/checking their phones in the back room than making coffee or taking orders from people waiting at the counter. Wifi is high speed and the music they played were pretty good as well. Lots of cool local artwork too.

Average coffee and average pastries. Service is not very good.

If I came across Ascendo in the desert and hadn’t eaten in a day, I would be stoked. However, if I chose to go to Ascendo in a town filled with great coffee, I would be severely underwhelmed. Look, hot take I know, but this place has so much potential but has not quite figured themselves out yet. A perfect location, but painfully mediocre coffee and pastries. Right now, this scone is doing nothing but absorbing all the moisture in my mouth… the iced coffee came in a paper cup with a plastic lid and leaking all over my car… i’m sure that if I ordered a cap and drink it in house, it would probably be a lovely experience. I cannot honestly leave five stars because this is simply not a five star coffee shop. I don’t know man I’ve been here a lot and given it a few chances but I’d say skip on over to nautical bean just down the road or make your way to field day or scout. I want to leave the kind soul Jedidiah out of this because he is nothing but good at that shop.
A few questions for the team, what is ascendo’s ethos? What separates you from all the other shops? Hope I can give it another shot here soon as I really do want to like this place.
Update: gave blueberry scone to coworker and he said it made him feel like he had Covid.

Cute place inside. Good vibe. Espresso drinks made with expertise. A bit warm inside on a hit day because the historic garage door is also the front door, which is open. All-gender bathroom is a single, spacious room. Toilet barely flushed.
Wheelchair accessibility: The floors and entrance are flat and spacious.

What an amazingly cool coffee place! Ridiculously delicious baked goods, cool staff, delicious coffee - in an old refurbished gas station! I even bought a cool t-shirt with a picture of the cafe!

The coffee is delicious and so are the desserts. It's one of my favorite cafes in SLO. The employees are very friendly and the place is beautiful. It's a great place to drink coffee and work on the computer. They have a store with caps, mugs, sweatshirts and they are of excellent quality.
