5/5 Stars – A Hidden Gem for Authentic Italian ask for your server Van Buhl!
I recently visited Cafe Roma and had Van Buhl sections and was blown away by the genuine Italian experience in such a cozy, small-town setting. From the moment we walked in, the warm, family-like atmosphere made us feel right at home

Service was great and food excellent. We always make reservations so there was no wait. We ate in the bar as we had a choice. It was nice. We ordered spumoni to go after being assured they now used cherry ice cream. When we got it home, it was good but was definitely strawberry. My husband's nonna was an Italian from Luca, and was a professional cook. He knows the trio of flavors well.
Great food!!

Welcoming neighborhood Italian restaurant with indoor seating, patio seating and cozy bar seating. Wait staff was friendly, food was good and ambience was relaxed. Had an ‘old-school’ feel without feeling stuffy or outdated. Will return!

I had no idea after recently moving to the railroad district that I lived so close to this little secret place. Have a funny feeling they are gonna know my first name very quickly. It was incredible. I honestly think they should update the pictures on the website because it doesn't do the restaurants ambience total justice. This is a hidden jam and the food is ridiculously amazing!
Everything was great. started with cocktails in the bar with Carlos, pre-dinner. Best Martini ever (and they have a Monday Martini special)! Dinner was outstanding...food delicious and perfectly prepared...Steamed Clams “Guazzetto", Broccoli Soup, Scampi Picatta, and Bucatini alla Carbonara...and finished with a luscious Crème Brulé. Excellent professional and friendly service and lovely atmosphere.
Food is always perfection. Highly recommend this place. Wonderful staff. Clean delicious food!
Cafe Roma never disappoints! From the outstanding food to the amazing service, it is one of our favorite restaurants!
Lasagna was mushy and the meat had the texture of a pate. Salad was very good.

We started with a martini, which was made perfectly. We then ordered salads. Caesar dressing was prepared exactly right, and the lettuce was crisp and cut into fork-sized pieces. I love their Italian salad, always ice cold, cheese & salami, and perfect vinaigrette. Our chicken picata with fettuccini entry was excellent! Gorgeous atmosphere. We are 30-year customers💋

Quiet birthday dinner. early w/few other diners. Yet we were seated quite close to a talkative table of four. Everything else was wonderful!
Thanksgiving dinner was, to be honest, so deeply disappointing. The kitchen was clearly not up to the challenge— even with a special, very limited menu. (I would give one star to Open Table for not having any disclosure of the special menu, which was not what my teens had been hoping for.) Many, many tables were waiting a LONG time. And our server made matters worse, confessing that he forgot to put our order in, and then making empty promises. (“Three minutes tops”... “You're now my #1 priority!”) The manager apologized and provided a discount, which was appreciated. But he also offered a bit of a snarky reply, claiming that my family was the only one unhappy with dishes that were, in some cases, bland and in others too salty. I chose not to respond to his critique. Cafe Roma has a long history in SLO and a good reputation. I don't know what happened on Thanksgiving, but it was not the kind of memory we hoped for on this trip to our favorite town.
Thanksgiving day Manu is not very impressive. Entries got delayed. Even though a little noisy, it is still nice dine there.
We had a SPECTACULAR Thanksgiving meal at Cafe Roma! Everything was wonderful - the food, the service, the atmosphere! Our family has been meeting in the Central Coast, for Thanksgiving, for several years and have been to several different restaurants. Cafe Roma was the best! It's no surprise that they have been in SLO for 45 years!
What a great place this is. High end dining g at a not cheap, but not high end price. Superb service. We did get a hit rushed at the end, but they were booked solid, and we had spent a long time there. A superb establishment!
