Food is expensive but taste pretty good. what I don’t think is fair, is them charging 6$ for a fountain drink, that in most places is refillable, here each one will cost you 6$
If you want to eat a delicious Pollo a la brasa Peruvian style in San Luis Obispo, you have to go to COYA restaurant is this little Gem the flavor and food was amazing . Catalina and her personal were very sweet with the customer. I definitely recommend you to try this place.
First time having Peruvian food, overall the restaurant is very cute and the food was pretty good. The chicken skewers appetizer was okay, the chicken was kind of dry and very little of it. As well as the Saltado de pollo, I’m pretty sure there’s only 2 small chicken tenderloins in the entire meal. I was disappointed how much tomatoes and onions there were compared to such small amount of chicken. The sauces were delicious, my husband loved the ceviche and the veal shank, the fried rice with beef was delicious too. They seemed to have plenty of meat in those meals and appetizers. For $26, let’s have at least pieces of chicken tenderloins in the meal. The “fries” are roasted potato strips. Our meal with 2 appetizers and 3 entrees with tip was $176. Pricey for what you get imo.
Honestly this deserves zero stars and it's unfortunate to say that because Peruvian cuisine is something so hard to mess up giving how delicious Peruvian food is however this restaurant truly missed the mark. Starting with not having the green sauce. every Peruvian restaurant has the green sauce and is always a staple . I ordered the lomo saltado (a very popular Peruvian dish) it was so underwhelming. The meat had a spoiled taste, the onions were soggy and not fresh, the overall taste was rancid. We also ordered the ceviche mixto and I really wish I didn't, I'll just leave it at that. I've had my share of Peruvian resturants and this was most definitely NOT IT.
RUN! Do not walk to this place! The food is amazing. Consider it as if you're taking your taste buds on a fun roller-coaster ride. Yummy ceviche that will leave you sipping on the ceviche juice after you devour the fish and the fixings. I ordered an empanada and honestly, I didn't want to share after I took the first bite! Then came the Lomo Saltado with filet mignon. The plate was a revelation of fine exquisite Peruvian cuisine. The meat literally melted in my mouth and the rice was such a nice compliment that I almost ordered a second plate. We ended this wonderful meal with Arroz con Leche and Mazamora and the Suspiro Limena for dessert.
Yummmy!!!! Thank you Coya for bringing such great food to SLO! I will definitely come back. 5 Stars!
Unfortunately, an embarrassment to Peruvian food. I am not sure if they just had an off night based on the other reviews but the food was so bad. We ordered lomo saltado - steak was overdone and was not filet like it should be nor we were told it was going to be something different, ceviche - didn’t have any flavor, chicken fried rice- had so much ginger you couldn’t eat it, pisco sour - it was sent back after a sip, not sure what that was but it was not pisco sour. Sadly not a place I would recommend or go back to.
Amazing and very authentic Peruvian restaurant! A great choice quality/price. It was our first time in SLO and this food make our evening happier. The “chicha morada” was amazing! Also the ceviche and the dessert, a glace of lucuma!!! So incredible. I travel a lot to Peru for work and I can totally recommend this place :))) un saludo grande
We had the most tasty Peruvian food in downtown San Luis Obispo at Coya in their new location at 851 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. The chicken saltado one of the best I have ever had. The beef empanada large. The passion fruit drink, Maracuya, refreshing. All house made authentic Peruvian food. I hope you will visit Coya and enjoy the food as much as we did. The ambience beautifully decorated with traditional Peruvian products, clothing, hats, purses, dolls, cookies, coffee and lamas. Large dinning room and outdoor seating nice. We can’t wait to visit again to try More Peruvian food. Catalina the owner, very welcoming and took good care of us. Thank you 🥰

Great Service.
Took our son here for his graduation dinner. Excellent food, elegant atmosphere, good and friendly service. Nice place for a date night or a relaxed evening out with family or friends; they also sell some Peruvian products (Inca Cola etc.) and crafts. Would definitely return.

Great fresh food, this is my second time there and my wife and I love it. Great staff and the selections of food are unique and incredibly tasty.
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for years, and it just didn't live up to the hype. Avoid getting seated in the downstairs courtyard. We were forgotten and had to go up and ask for our server because they were “so busy”. The high top table was wobbly and uncomfortable and had stained seat cushions. The sangria was underwhelming and I'm not sure if it even had red wine in it. Seemed like a $38 carafe of juice. The quinoa salad & ribeye were good, but the Lomo dish which was supposed to be filet mignon had quite a bit of fatty pieces that weren't edible.
My wife likes trying new places. I am so glad she made me come here! Service was great, food was fantastic and we will be back!
Great food and service. We were in a strange corner with a door. Pretty tight. But overall good experience.
Overall it was a good experience. Disappointed they didn't have Papas a lá Huacaina as an appetizer and my wife's vegan dish was a Beet Salad that was mostly a Spinach Salad with a couple slices of Beet - my Lobster Raviolis were great, and so was my Pisco Sour. Service was attentive and professional, ambiance was casual and colorful - parking is a challenge downtown Del Mar, but again, overall it was a nice dinner 😎
