We had been here before and food was amazing. Today not so much. We ordered appetizers and they came out in 5 minutes of ordering. The grilled octopus was with roasted potatoes. For 1 I would have expected yucca and 2 roasted potatoes had to have been previously done and just warmed. The mussels,, nothing exciting and the ceviche was only ok. Our entree, my husband ordered the fish sandwich, on the menu it says it Mahi Mahi for the fish, but our server let's us know its halibut. Perhaps change the menu to reflect that. We also got the peruvian rice with assorted fish, the shrimp were cooked nicely buy the octopus and bay scallops were so small and overcooked. The best part was the flan, very very good. Sorry to say that it doesn't seem like they try hard to make the food amazing. This is just ordinary.

Please be aware that this place will not seat you 45 minutes to an hour before their noted close time. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming. Not bad but I wish I would have booked somewhere else. The restaurant itself is very cute but that's about it.

This is THE BEST Peruvian restaurant in the central coast. I had the ceviche and I was blown away. I’ve been all over the US and was raised in Peru, and hands down this place is such a gem in SLO county. It’s definitely a must, specially their imported Peruvian lagers!

It's fun trying something new and out of the norm. They have indoor and outdoor seating where a number of tables are on the sidewalk out front. A couple of those tables are high top with stools that do not have a back. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long to get a lower table with regular chairs since the first available was the aforementioned high tops. The food is tasty. We tried the special scallops of the day which were baked with a thick layer of Parmesan cheese on top. Not my favorite as the parmesan totally overpowered the scallops. My pork belly was tasty... And huge! Parts of it were dry and parts were juicy and succulent. It was served on top of apples, onions and yams which paired nicely with the pork. The husband had the seafood risotto and it was flavorful and served with a large fish fillet on top. I only got a little taste but I thought the fish was seasoned and cooked nice and the risotto was savory.

Most amazing food I've ever had in SLO! Hope it stays open for many many years. The flavor profiles are like nothing else, everything is so fresh and tastes wonderful. Service was great and the music and style could put anyone in a good mood

I’m really hoping we misunderstood, but both me and my girlfriend overheard the owner threatening the kitchen staff about their immigration status and arguing about late pay. On my way to the back dining area, I looked into the kitchen and saw them preparing the aji de gallina with smart and final rotisserie chicken. A friend of mine reported seeing them even microwaving it before plating (which would explain why it was so dry)

That same Peruvian friend also explained that the food tastes like MSG more than anything. I’d love to recommend the place - SLO needs the culture, but businesses like these aren’t welcome here.

I almost forgot! I had to send back my ceviche because I definitely received tilapia and not the halibut advertised on the menu. My waiter said this was a thing they did when there isn’t halibut available 🤨

Overall - the staff are friendly and helpful, but I really regretted giving the business my money.

Nestled in the middle of San Luis Obispo. With a soft rock en español playing low in the back ground. One is greeted by a cute peruvian alpaca. With subtle whispers of fresh herbs and spices. Such a romantice atmosphere. It's menu filled with traditional techniques using central coast farm fresh ingredients. I highly recommend the ceviche such an amazing bite, along with the sizzling Lomo Saltado. Service is hands down the best. Not to mentioned the cleanliness of the restaurant. Be sure to ask for Catalina she will make you feel at home.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing from its food to its service. The owner served us throughout the entire experience and took time to explain each dish. She went as far as to teach us her culture and some of the peruvian language. Highly recommend giving this place a chance if you’re in the area!!

I’m 2 months late, but have been meaning to leave a review from my experience at COYA. It was a wonderful time! The atmosphere was really cute and my friends and I loved the authentic music, especially with the flutes. Service was also great, we got to chat with some of the staff and they’re very sweet! My group was very happy with the food. We started with some ceviche that was fresh and very tasty. Then the beef lomo saltado, one of my favorites. We had some big appetites so we committed to a group item, the Pachamanca! I’m posting a photo because this thing was huge and very filling! We got addicted to that orange sauce that came with it too!
