This is my second meal at Coya. The food is good but could be great. Ceviche is high quality but a bit too salty. Cancha is a Peruvian staple cooked/ popped corn that should be an appetizer. Small amount came with ceviche but they wanted to charge $6 for small bowl of more. Empanadas was not cooked through. Filling was good lomo style. Yuca appetizers came after dinner and we’re not cooked fully and we’re not crispy. Chicken dish called Ají de Gallina was we’ll done with right creamy spice. Lomo Saltado Tri tip steak was well balanced. Good quality rice. Seafood Chaufa, a Peruvian fried Rice did not have the authentic seasoning and was soggy. Chica morada, sweet purple corn drink was very good but whipped to level that 2/3 of glass was foam.
My last visit we got a seafood stew that had shrimp that were too old. When I gave that feedback it was not taken well. I hope they can improve. I’d like to try it one more time.

For anyone who has actually travelled in Peru and enjoyed its generally excellent cuisine, this restaurant in Del Mar is definitely not the real deal. The ceviche was prepared with WAY TOO MUCH vinegar! Our main course dishes were just average. Overall, Peruvian Secret feels more like a restaurant in a Central American country than a true Peruvian restaurant. We will not return.
Food is great, customer service is exceptional, we had the Lomo saltado and it was delicious. Definitely will be back, great experience, 100% recommended

I love the place and have taken out of town visitors there several times. The entrees and service were great, as usual, and the scallops appetizer was excellent. The mussels were a miss though. It was a very eclectic presentation with the corn nuts and large white corn kernels, and the mussels served dressed and chilled. Just didn't work for us. The other thing was they were out of the chicken entree on the menu and the chicken special, so the choices were somewhat limited. I'll be back for sure, but their were a couple hiccups this time.

Found this place on Yelp and glad we stopped by. The food was delicious and delivered if you’re looking for classic lomo saltado. My wife got the combo aji de gallons and lomo saltado and loved it. She paired it with the sangria roja made with chicha morada. We finished it up with the lucuma which is fantastic, taste similar to caramel but with its own flavor. Give it a shot if your around, you won’t be disappointed.
