Very modern pizza/Italian restaurant .. the place was buzzing when we went; so it seem like its a popular place .... looks very trendy and hip ... bar area was nice .. we tried 2 of their pizzas .. the queen margarita and the speciality pizza Otto ... I wanted this place to be more than what it was .. my expectations were probably a bit high when I first saw the pizzas online .. but the pizza did not live up to the hype .. its comes uncut (which doesn't bother me) .. but for a reason .. and that is (as they have to explain on the menu) it to keep the center of the pizza moist and fresh .. but the real reason is that it is sooo thin that it comes out almost raw .. cutting the pizza on our plate was making a mess of the pizza .. the crust at the edges, however, was excellent ... one should be warned .. like most restaurants in America .. the pizzas are over salted .. the red pepper sauce on the otto was better IMO than the cause on the margarita .. the basic sauce on the margarita was too thin, and salty for me .. I took 1/2 of the pizza home, thought twice about i the next morning, and tossed it all.
This spot has a prime downtown location and serves truly excellent pizza—mine was perfectly prepared with a flavorful crust and fresh toppings. Just a heads-up: the pizzas come unsliced, so be ready to do the cutting yourself.
If the weather’s nice, try to grab a seat on the front patio—it’s a great place to enjoy your meal and people-watch. The back patio is fine, but the front has much more atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the service. We waited about five minutes after being seated before anyone approached our table, and we were close to leaving. Our server seemed disengaged and uninterested, which put a damper on the overall vibe.
On a positive note, the wine list was well-curated and offered some solid options.
Overall, worth visiting for the food and location—hopefully your service experience is better than ours was.
Fantastic Neopoliton style pizza! The dough texture and lightness was incredible.
🌟 My Experience
We came to Flour House to celebrate a Cal Poly graduation with a group of seven, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect spot! 🎓✨ From the moment we sat down, the energy was festive and welcoming—exactly what we needed for such a special occasion. 🎉
🍽️ Delicious Food
The pizzas? Absolutely phenomenal! 🍕🔥 Each of the four varieties we ordered had its own mouthwatering character, with fresh ingredients and perfectly crisped crusts. And the hand-crafted cocktails? 🍸🍋 Art in a glass! Every sip was as delightful as the last.
🙌 Outstanding Service
Our server, Sam, was an absolute rockstar! 💫 His attentiveness, patience with our big group, and upbeat vibe really made the night feel extra celebratory. Sam helped guide us through the menu and made sure everything flowed smoothly—huge mahalo! 🙏
💬 Final Thoughts & Recommendation
Flour House is a gem for celebrations, casual nights out, or anytime you’re craving wood-fired pizza and stellar drinks. 🥂 Whether you’re a local or visiting SLO, don’t miss this spot! Big love to Sam and the whole team for making our grad night unforgettable. 💛
Really good food that you can taste the quality in. Great elasticity in the dough. The Cesare salad was nicely balanced and crisp. A must every time we are in the area!
Good pizza, but refuses to offer ranch dressing to trash humans like me. 😭
Service was excellent, patio seating was very pleasant. Unfortunately the food did not live up to our expectations. Only one of our group of five liked their pizza (the Otto). I had the Siciliana pizza, which was very bland, sauce had no flavor. The Americana was ok, the Queen Margherita disappointed the person who ordered it. One of the group had a pasta dish, described as bland. Pizzas were bigger than expected- could easily be split for two people, especially if you have appetizers. The crusts were good, though the person who had the Margherita felt it was too thick. For appetizers, the panzanella was very good; arancini were bland. We shared one bottle of Barolo, which was decent.
My second time, so I really wanted the same dish from my first visit, GNOCCHETTI ALLA MILANESE, because it was delicious! A little disappointed this time because the meat was a little dry and overdone, but still great flavor. This will not discourage me from going back for #3 and the same dish. Pizzas are marvelous, love the crust!
There was a wait time and I recommend to review the menu before arriving, if it is your first time, it will be of much help. I love the setting of the place. The staff are very kind. The pizza was what my party ordered and they were delicious. Our server was a tall blonde young lady and she was the kindest!! She went out of her way to ensure we enjoyed our meal. It was my birthday and she gave us candles for the birthday cake we had brought.
A great pizza spot in SLO! Both the pizzas that we ordered were true Neapolitan pizzas and were great. Unfortunately one of the pizza we did get were missing mushrooms, to rectify this they just threw cold and watery mushrooms on top of the pizza which made the entire thing soggy (were were also charged $5). Regardless, the pizza itself was really good hence the 4 stars.

Birthday dinner on a Friday night. Table wait about 45 minutes (they don't do reservations), or you can sit at the bar with the full menu available. Pretty busy night. Pleasant atmosphere with outdoor patio seating available. Attentive wait-staff; pleasant and professional. Menu offered variety and interesting palette combinations (nice Italian/Sicilian flavors) as well as a good selection of brick oven pizzas.
Vegetarian options: Most of the entrees offered vegetarian option
Parking: Higuera St. in downtown SLO. Bar-like seating outside in front, inside dining and bar, outside, covered patio dining. No reservations.
