My wife and I had a delightful dinner the other night at Gardens of Avila. The food was delicious and my salmon was cooked to perfection. The Ambiance is wonderful and it's quite enough that you can actually hold a decent conversation. A truly delightful place!

Love the food and service. My family eats at this place every time we stay at Sycamore Hotspring.

Fish was dry/unedible - sent it back and got raw fish....don't eat it, server never asked how the 2nd one was and charged us for the raw fish

The ambience and service is great! The meals were mediocre (too much dressing) and a bit over priced.

Definitely recommend, especially if you're staying at the resort. Great selection, wonderful drinks, gorgeous atmosphere, and the service was impeccable.

We had a wonderful late evening dinner on the patio. The ambience was perfect and relaxing. Service was attentive and excellent from start to finish. We started with the California Caesar salad, which was fresh and flavorful. I ordered the filet, cooked exactly as requested, and it was outstanding. A memorable dining experience—I'll definitely return!

Enjoyed sitting in the bar. Delicious seafood chowder stood out. The chocolate moose dessert was big and delicious. Service was excellent.

Dinner at Gardens of Avila was very good in every way, but breakfast this morning was off the charts. The best eggs Benedict I've ever had, much thanks (I'm sure) to the freshness of the spinach and tomatoes from their own garden.

Had breakfast and dinner here. Crab spinach Benedict was very disappointing. A crab cake w not the slightest taste of crab. Left most of it on the plate. Wife had Florentine Benedict which was ok, but all of the eggs on both our Benedicts were overcooked. She was also unhappy w her hash browns. Poor value ($85 w tip w a bloody mary and cranberry juice). Dinner was mixed also. She enjoyed her short rib and garlic mashed potatoes. I had the cioppino w fettuccine. The seafood was decent but the pasta was truly inedible. Overcooked mush. Left it on the plate. Warm, fresh bread and butter was tasty. Servers were super nice. Atmosphere nice.

The restaurant is very nice with great ambiance! The service was good and the food was fresh and delicious. I would recommend it for anyone who finds themselves in the Avila Beach/San Luis Obispo area. We started with a soak in the hot springs tubs, a great massage and facial, so it was a complete experience!

We visited the Gardens of Avila Restaurant for my fiancée’s birthday dinner, hoping for a special experience—but unfortunately, it fell short.

While the staff was friendly, they didn’t seem very informed about the menu. When we asked about popular dishes or specials, our server simply said, “The menu is small. I serve all of the dishes.” I also asked for a wine pairing with my entrée—especially important considering we’re in wine country—but the server had no recommendations.

The wait for our food was over an hour (1 hour and 5 minutes), which really took away from the evening. When the food finally arrived, it lacked flavor and attention to detail. The mashed potatoes, for example, were closer to soup in consistency.

To top it off, the bill came out to nearly $150 before tip, which felt excessive for such a disappointing experience. We were really hoping for a memorable and enjoyable night out, but sadly, Gardens of Avila didn’t deliver.

This meal was incredibly disappointing especially considering the price. Maybe it was just an off night as this place has pretty good reviews, but the jasmine rice that came with my meal was gloopy and cold, and the polenta served with my dates meal was so cold he sent it back. My fish was cooked beautifully but it didnt have much flavor and it was topped with a mango salsa that clearly had been refrigerated, so it was cold on top of hot fish, which, paired with my room temp rice, made the fish lose its heat pretty quickly. On top of that, the mocktail I ordered was so sickly sweet I only got through about 4 sips of it. I love sweet drinks but they put about twice too much grenadine in it so that it tasted just left of cough syrup. Our server was very sweet and acommodating- she didn't charge me for my practically untouched beverage which I appreciated, and the manager was quick to remedy my date's cold polenta, but still. Our entrees were $50 each. I expected so much more out of our meals for this price point. I would not return to dine here and I certainly wouldn't recommend this spot to anyone.

Appetizers were very tasty. One main ribeye was overcooked and needed more seasoning. Dessert candied bacon crème Brulé
