Really well designed. Plus, the bartender, Jeff, is a homie who starred in the Detrioters. Can’t ask for much more than that.
It’s a quaint small cozy place in a neighborhood located near the railroad station; it always has a good crowd in there. It’s probably the only vinyl wine bar in SLO with a rotating crowd on of vinyl DJs. It’s large enough to handle a crowd of 24 and small enough to be intimate. You will always meet someone there. If you want a place to go to after work that doesn’t break the bank and have a good time, this is your place.
Small and uninviting....not a very friendly bar. I arrived at 7:50 pm and was told by Jeff that they close at 8:00 and they already gave last call. It was a weird, uptight, and snobby vibe. I will check it out on another night and give you an update.
Lovely place for a glass of wine or a beer. So nice to have a place with this cool and relaxed vibe in SLO. The DJ's are always great and the wine is delish! A very hip yet comfortable, high-vibing kind of place! Highly recommend. You can also reserve a table which is just so nice! Love this place!
Great atmosphere good selection hundreds of wines on the list albums music lots of fun
Weekend trip to SLO and our friends took us to this great gem. DJ spinning vinyl to create a great atmosphere and the owners were a delight and very attentive. We had the sparking chardonnay and local IPA. Both fantastic. Also discovered that one of the owners was from the same area in MI, which made it more memorable.
Spectacularly warm and friendly vinyl bar that feels and sounds like a night at a good friends living room.
If you like beer or wine just go, it's worth it. The atmosphere is intimate. The music is there but not overpowering the wonderful people. I'll be back!
It has been said but there’s no better way to say it - this place is a gem ?
A different kind of vinal bar. Wine, beer, and a great selection of fish and seafood tins. DJ spinning cool tunes. The music is not too loud so you can have a conversation which is a plus.

The owner’s are lovely and I love enjoying a couple glasses of wine or a cup of decaf here.

Great cozy vibe place for both evening music and morning coffee and pastries. Highly Recommend for both!
Jan’s Place is truly a hidden gem in San Luis Obispo's historic Railroad District. Every time I visit, I meet the most interesting people, which adds to the laid-back, welcoming vibe. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique spot to unwind, listen to some great records, and meet new people.

My wife and I dropped in yesterday afternoon for the Shindig Cider Maker Selections event and it was a blast. We had heard lots of good word of mouth about this vinyl bar since the new ownership team took over (never were able to make it in under previous group) and had been meaning to drop in for awhile.
We're so glad we finally did! The spot itself has such an eclectic and charismatic setting for locals to hang out and have some drinks + listen to music at. I was impressed with the vinyl collection they had and really appreciated the attention to detail on the ambiance they've established. It's unlike anywhere else on this side of SLO and in a good way.
We had the pleasure of meeting the new owner who was extremely friendly to both of us from the jump and informed us of some fun events they'll be hosting this weekend and later this month. We look forward to coming back more in the future to hang out and enjoy some drinks (they had a fun variety of locally sourced options) + good music!
