I was visiting SLO and wanted good coffee, not hotel coffee, to start my day. Walked in with my leashed dog to grab a cup to go and was met with a curt “Service animals only” — no hello, no good morning, no welcome. It wasn’t busy: no line, just a few couples at tables on a Saturday morning. Later, a nearby shop clerk told me she’d had the exact same rude treatment here, and I see several other Google reviews echoing this unfriendly, anti-dog attitude. If being polite is too hard, maybe coffee isn’t the only thing that’s bitter here. Can’t rate the coffee or food — they didn’t want my business. I posted a picture of my very scary black lab for reference.

It was okay. I optioned for oatmilk but it was very chunky looking at the bottom of the cup. That was the only thing I had ordered from here but their food looks great . A lot of the crowd in here were working on their laptops .

The coffee itself was great—but that’s where the positives end. The service at Lucy’s Coffee was absolutely horrendous. I decided to give the new location a second chance, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, it was just as bad as before. The staff were shockingly rude, unwelcoming, and seemed completely uninterested in creating a pleasant customer experience. For a coffee shop, where friendly service should be the bare minimum, this was beyond disappointing. The owner seriously needs to reassess their team—because no matter how good the coffee is, I won’t be coming back if this is the way customers are treated.
