It was ok. Can't say that I was *overly* impressed. Tri-tip sandwich had several pieces of gristle. Frys were not at all crunchy - but I just don't like soft-frys.

Honestly, this is more of a PSA then a review - Old Slo is not just one of the most reliably tasty restaurants downtown it is also an EXCELLENT spot to host a party!
We were on the hunt to find a spot to host our group of about 80 for our Wedding Welcome party in downtown SLO and was met with some exorbitantly expensive quotes and honestly impressionable communication. So we had the idea to reach out to Old Slo and I'm so glad we did.
It had everything we were looking for - downtown location, fresh food, private area, easy beer/wine hosting, and no weirdly inflated prices (hello wedding tax). The back room of Old Slo can be rented out and can comfortably fit 60 people (we obviously spilled over to the outside and the front room, worked great). That room is also beautiful, the big windows looking onto the creek, couches and plenty of seating. The staff was excellent, they were incredibly gracious and staggered the catering trays so it was always warm.
The food was SO good. It worked out really well for our guests with dietary restrictions too! Even if you don't need to rent the space, I still absolutely recommend them for catering.
Kevin (Catering Manager) was the MVP. His communication was great and perfectly estimated the food quantities. He is also just a really nice person that was lovely to work with.
10000/10 recommend as an event space! You guys rock!

Waited more than 45 minutes for our meals after being told to expect 10-20. Noticed that people behind us in line were receiving their meals. Politely asked if our name was still in the queue and were told there were a couple orders ahead of us…I’m pretty sure that staff member lied and never actually checked the status of our order. After 45 minutes, our order was marked “completed” in their system that sends a receipt (Dripos?), and we still hadn’t received our food. My husband gave 2 employees the name on our order, and a third that finally followed up and seemed very surprised that we had been waiting so long, and finally prepped our order. I don’t have a problem with the fact that they were busy and wait times were longer. I do have a problem with being gaslit while our order was lost and later marked “completed” when it wasn’t.

My husband and I had the tri tip & linguica. Both were excellent. Lucia was hard at work getting the orders ready in a timely manner while also answering customer questions and getting the occasional drink cup or sauce lid.

Such a good meal! We got the chicken sando and the tri tip sando and we feel “so invigorated and energized by the MEAT!” Service was great, extra BBQ sauce was a must. Can’t beat Old SLO BBQ.

The BBQ was just average. The sandwiches tasted dry without any additional sauce or toppings. The salad was tasty, but I did not enjoy the plastic container. There should be proper dishes when not ordering to go. I liked the fact that you can tap your beer yourself.
