This was amazing!!! The service was fantastic. We ordered sweet potato fries and did the wall of beers and wines. It was so fun to experience all the different options and they had options for everyone. I like wine and it was fun to sample local wines and I even discovered a new wine. My husband and prefers beers and found a brown ale that was delicious. We will definitely come back when we are in the area! What a treat!!!!
It was good until I put the bbq sauce on it.
Best tri-tip sandwich‼️‼️‼️
Ribs were tough and inedible — like shoe leather. The tri tip was fatty and chewy. The card-for-beer system is the dumbest thing ever: the pours come out half foam, meaning you are paying for foam with every beer. Then you have to remember to check out, which requires you to get back in the ordering queue to leave. If the line is long that means you need to wait for 10+ people twice just to have a beer and check out.
Trash, took 1hr to get two sliders no exaggeration and they had two tiny slices of tri tip on em. Trash. Fries were ok
We took our order to go, and I have to say we were not impressed. The meat was tough and hard to cut (BBQ shouldn’t be that way). The beans should have been cooked for another hour or so, because they were undercooked and still a bit hard. Then there’s the issue of missing items from our order. They missed the salad dressing for the salad, missed my side order for 3 extra ribs ($12), and no ketchup for the French fries. All would have been forgiven if they would have answered their phone, or returned my message - or even answered my email because they don’t answer their phone. My recommendation - if you like BBQ this is not the place for you.
I love slo BBQ, Best for all the 20 years I’ve been in the county! ✨♥️

A friend and I were enjoying the Thursday Night Market when we happened upon Old Slo BBQ giving out free samples of tri tip, pulled pork & ribs. Trying the tri tip, I was pleasantly surprised about the flavor and the texture of the meat, which was quite tender. The young gentleman at the front then tells us that there's a $5 discount on the tri tip sandwich which sold me and my friend and I waited in line for 30min to get this sandwich.
About an hour after trying them out to when we finally got our food, I was shocked. Not only was the tri tip sandwich quite small for a normal $15 price tag (perhaps the $5 discount means you get the small? No one told us) but half the tri tip in the sandwich was raw. Inedibly raw. I swear I poked the raw meat and the sandwich giggled (bad joke).
It was an awful experience. I considered talking to the staff about it, but they were so slammed and stressed that I decided to cut my loss and write this review to hopefully warn other customer & hopefully get management to avoid letting something like this happen. I mean you can see in the picture my hoagie bun was quite bloody..

Old Slo BBQ catered the food for our daughter’s wedding at Flying Caballos Ranch and they were absolutely amazing! The food was delicious across the board! A number of guests commented that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding (and they’ve been to a lot of weddings!)! It could not have gone any better - highly recommend using Old Slo BBQ for your events in the San Luis Obispo area!

Old SLO BBQ consistently has the best tri-tip in town. It's well seasoned and always SO tender. I've noticed some of the other places in town can be hit or miss with the tenderness of their tri-tip, but Old SLO is consistently amazing. They can be a little pricey, but it's definitely worth it for quality tri-tip every visit.

I love the options, especially the candied tri-tip sliders. It’s always a quick and easy lunch pick up. They do a great job catering office lunches, as well.

This is my favorite tritip place in SLO, or anywhere for that matter. Even if it's just a one day trip through college memory lane, hard to beat Old San Luis BBQ.
