Call Gordon Ramsay and "Kitchen Nightmares!" This is a perfect candidate in that it was a hugely popular and wonderful neighborhood type of place for many years. We came regularly, never leaving with anything but full stomachs and a smile on our faces. Tonight, after some years (moved away) we came back and it was top-to-bottom horrible. As many other posts point out, the prime rib was tasteless. I rarely add salt but couldn't have anyway since none was on the table. Neither had been the wine list. Or even a pen to sign the credit card slip. But those are hardly the worst offenders, service was indifferent, never once checking on us to, say, fill water glasses or find out that my companions entree was burned to a crisp and the mashed potatoes were very cold. A nearby 8-top emptied and while some were still standing at the table, gathering their things, a bus boy was loudly clearing the table. Mind you, this was with many empty tables nearing closing and nobody coming in needing the table. Our booking was "lost" with the Open Table reservation cancelled by the restaurant while we sat waiting for service. So sadly that means I can't put comments onto their site. I could go on but you get the idea, it's really too bad. This was one of our favorites and was great value-for-money. While the prices are, for the area, still fair, it's a total waste of money for what we got. I even had to use the waiter's corkscrew to open our own bottle of wine. Maybe I should have tipped myself.

Please get rid of the smell coming out of the bathroom that is permeating the restaurant. The employees are amazing and the drinks are good, but it makes it very unpleasant to smell the order, to the point I don’t want to come anymore. Suggestion, please rip the carpet out and sanitize the restaurant

We love this old-fashioned restaurant and try to go a couple of times per month. It is generally a relaxing and delicious dinner venue. Last night, however, it was extremely busy and noisy. The server was excellent, but obviously frazzled. We've never seen it so busy. Our server said that it had been that way all evening. Also, they were out of both mashed and baked potatoes. Regardless of this one event, we highly recommend the restaurant! As I said above, it is usually a very relaxing, friendly place to dine.

Service was slow . Waited 15 minutes and no server came to our table to take our order . Had to go up to the front and ask for a server. Person who sat us .. then asked where are you sitting at . Food was over cooked . As for Medium rare on the Rib Eye steak .. steak had no blood on it . Server did not once stop by our table and asked how our food was and if we needed a refill on our beverage. She did pass by our table several times in a rush as too pretend to not see us .. may not return.. for the price of the food .. would expect better service and better food .. 3 stars out of 5 us being very fair !

I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and it still doesn't disappoint. Petrale sole is my favorite, and it still tastes as good today as my first experience many years ago. I'm so happy this family owned restaurant is still in business and thriving.

Took my boyfriend to dinner here for his birthday. Had the Calamari Sicilia stuffed with Dungeness crab and bay shrimp. It was the BEST! Prime rib also excellent! Our waiter, Carlos was great! Will go back again. Love this place! Have had the fish & chips there before, also delicious.

It’s an old family restaurant. It’s been there 75 years. So it’s old school atmosphere. The service was excellent. The only thing wrong was the steamed vegetables were not hot. Other than that the food was very good.

My wife and I live in San Ramon and have been going to the Brass Door for over 20 years. It's changed hands several times, but it's maintained good service and serves quality food at reasonable prices.

We were seated quickly. It took a while for our server to come by. Drinks came slowly. Food came out quickly and before the bottle of wine we ordered. Filet and prime rib were very good. Chocolate cake was just okay.

We were seated right away. And very quick service. Although they didn't rush the group. We were in for a birthday. No candle in the cake if that is important to you. Bring your own.

I went here once awhile ago and don't remember the food being all that it was made up to be. I would recommend going to an outback steak house over going here as it's more affordable and I would say it's the same quality if you are looking at steaks.

After our scheduled meeting, it was quite nice to be able to appreciate such a delicious meal for agroup of 36. The Chicken piccata was excellent along with the atmosphere and the service.

Whow! Just want to share my thoughts on Brass Door Family style Restaurant. It's been around for decades, and the food is consistently delicious. The prices are more than fair, and the drinks are generously poured. It has a very welcoming, grandparent-like atmosphere, and the location is incredibly convenient. Going to this restaurant is always a worthwhile experience. I highly recommend Brass Door
