This place used to be better in quality and customer service. We Ordered carne asada fries and they were a big order we didn’t mind paying the 18$ or so, but we added guacamole and they charged us 28$. That just seems overpriced, so they charged us 10$ more for a scoop of guacamole. They were also offering pan dulce and kept insisting we grab one as if it was free, I said two was okay which we were totally going to pay for and the waiter said “grab another one please for the child” as if it was courtesy, and charged us an extra 15$ for 3 pieces of pan dulce. We can get a whole box of pan dulce for that price. Like I said I don’t mind paying but the prices seem excessive for what it is. I Will no longer be coming here or recommending this place. It’s truly overhyped.

Such a solid place for really good Mexican breakfast and food. They give you bundles. The Mexican coffee is really good and the Machacon and eggs was fantastic. For sure a hidden gem in San Diego. For a small and really busy place the service is really good also

For over $40, our food was an underwhelming experience. My mole was watery, it came with rice, a small salad & 2 small drumsticks. Daughter's chilaquiles verdes also watery. Coffee was a sad experience. I was given a tiny plastic container with just 1 tbsp of instant coffee so I could make my own. Spoke with owner, no attempt to appease me whatsoever, charged full amount. Will never go back.

One of the most authentic Mexican brunch spots we have been at least ten times this year. Cafe de Olla and lemonade are a must try. All the caldos are perfection!! Even when there is a wait, it's worth it. Also fresh Pan Dulce and great service like you're at your Tia's.

Good for a trip to Mexico without crossing the border.

We were at the outlets and then got hungry and started looking around not as many options but did found this Mexican place and it was great and beyond! Sometimes the small simple places can give you amazing surprises!

First it’s at the border so you get real Mexican food the burritos are huge and they had horchata which is amazing! Super happy we found this gem! Recommended! Great service too! Gracias

small spot with ample servings in the heart of san ysidro. had the mole chilaquiles with chicken and 2 over easy eggs, very good, the cut tortillas were just the right amount of crispy... washed it down with the cafe de olla. a satisfying breakfast

I’ve been coming to El Rincón since it first opened, and I’ve always appreciated having a place in San Ysidro that highlights our community and culture. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me disappointed.
I ordered the Green Chilaquiles, and while the dish looked appetizing, the salsa was very bitter and lacked flavor. The chicken was also a letdown, it would have been much better shredded, but instead it had a lot of cartilage and bone, which really took away from the experience. My daughter ordered the Green Enchiladas and, sadly, she couldn’t finish them either. It makes me sad to say that the food no longer has the authentic touch it once did. Lately, it feels like more of the ingredients are coming from a can rather than being prepared fresh. As a San Ysidro native, I want to continue supporting local businesses, but it’s hard when the quality slips like this. On a positive note, the staff remains very respectful and welcoming, which I truly appreciate. However, when it comes to the food, I would suggest keeping other options in mind until improvements are made.
