I want to first say that our server was very good. Communication, attentiveness and smile were all appreciated. As for the food, it was okay. A couple of Sir Loin Steaks were ordered. Texture was not the greatest, and the flavor was a little on the bland side. Salmon was good, but the Risotto with an abundance of Peas was odd and just not that good. Grilled Brussels Sprouts were soggy. The Scallops and side mixed green salad were pretty good.

We had a great experience for dinner. Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Great menu, food was locally sourced and amazing. This is an amazing place at a very cool historic location. I have been here several times, I was finally able to take my wife for an amazing dinner. Staff went above and beyond, thank you allAbsolutely worth a stop if your passing by, or 100% worth going out of your way to eat here. So sad they are no longer open for lunch. We will be back.

Although the name, location and even menu titles might seem those of a quaint roadside eatery, the sophisticated preparations, excellent service and comensurate pricing are all indications that being rural doesn't mean, left out.

Food was tasty, portions small for the price and location. Restaurant has a very nice ambiance and decorations staying true to the school house theme. Service was a little slow but friendly.

Our last-minute reservation on a bustling Saturday night at School House Restaurant in Sanger, CA, was met with unparalleled hospitality, despite our late arrival. This gem, rich in history and culinary excellence, provided an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish.Culinary Highlights: Our meal, shared family-style, featured standout dishes like the succulent Braised Duck Bruschetta, perfectly grilled Artichoke, flavorful Brussels Sprouts, creamy Brie Cheese, and the exquisite Mushroom Ravioli. The main courses—Braised Duck, perfectly cooked Salmon, a luxurious Wagyu Burger with Sweet Potato Fries, and the spicy Firehouse Burger—were all exceptional. Paired with refreshing pints of beer, each dish was a celebration of fresh, local ingredients masterfully prepared.Ambiance and Service: The ambiance was a delightful surprise, offering a nostalgic step back in time, complemented by modern culinary craft. The staff’s attentiveness and warm welcome made our evening even more special, exemplifying why School House Restaurant deserves every bit of its five-star rating.A five-star review for School House Restaurant is a testament to their outstanding service and culinary excellence. My second time dining here and it was excellent both times. The shrimp fettuccine with pomegranateargarita and Wagu burger with New Kid were fantastic. Love that you can make reservations online as well.

Hubs and I had a fabulous anniversary dinner at the Schoolhouse Restaurant and Tavern in Sanger a couple nights ago. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Host staff was friendly and efficient. We were seated at our table on the bar side of the restaurant which was a little loud but that was fine. Our drinks were great. The hubs liked the schoolhouse etched in the ice cube of his Old Fashion. Our server was polite, quick and didn't linger overlong. The food was wonderful. We ordered the Brussels sprouts to start. So good I wanted to lick the plate. We both had salads. My wedge was fantastic-the fried onions a nice touch. Hubs had meatloaf. I had shrimp fettuccine. Main courses rich and delicious. All courses were well spaced, even tho we ordered it all at the same time, to give us lots of time to chat and enjoy the food. I would definitely go again. After dinner we wandered the hall space looking at the historic pix and desks/decor. Just a super pleasant evening. Two thumbs up.

We decided to venture out to Sanger for our anniversary dinner. We reserved ahead of time and were promptly seated. The front staff was very welcoming. The interior is charming and I totally appreciate the school house vibe with the desks and stage in the main dining room. Our server was friendly and attentive. My husband and I started off with a few appetizers including the Brie cheese which was a hit. They have a great assortment of cocktails. I tried the spring fling and empress elderflower, both of which were refreshing and delicious. The salmon risotto entree was good, but I felt like it could have been kicked up a notch flavor wise. As for dessert, if I see bread pudding on the menu then I must try it. This particular bread pudding was nicely done and not overly sweet. I would definitely make the trip back out.
