Our family thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Barrel House Tavern, celebrating my son's birthday. The food and drinks were exceptional, the view from our table window was beautiful and the ambience warm and comfortable. What impressed me the most was the support shown by the maître d to his staff. The restaurant was busy but the service did not suffer. The maître d greeted customers, took drink and appetizer orders and checked in to ensure everyone was happy. We already look forward to a return visit.

3rd year in a row that I booked with The Barrel House. 2023 Dungness Crab on the menu - really delightful. 2024 The concept dayover at the bar is wonderful; you get a really inclusive personal service. 2025 No Dungness crab on the menu anymore, oysters had shards of shell in them, Ordering the seafood tower we got less than expected. I really like the idea of having gotten what I have paid for. 2025 did not add up. Service however was perfect (arrival & waiter).

My most recent visit to this location was a little better than my previous one, but unfortunately still not the kind of experience I used to enjoy here. Our waiter, Bernardo, seemed to be having a rough day, he appeared tired and was quite short with us throughout the meal. His tone noticeably changed after a misunderstanding with our order. He accidentally brought out four kids’ meals when I had only ordered one. When I tried to clarify, he kept insisting that I had ordered four and said he had verified that with me. I explained that he had only asked how many pieces of tenders I wanted, not how many meals, but instead of simply apologizing and correcting the mistake, he continued to imply that it was my fault. I even found myself apologizing to him just to move things along. After that, his attitude became very firm and distant he dropped off the check with a quick “here you go, thank you, bye,” and walked away. Meanwhile, I noticed he was much friendlier and more engaging with the table next to us, laughing and chatting with them. There was also some confusion about the complimentary ice cream for my stepdaughter’s birthday. When we asked about it while ordering dessert, he abruptly said, “That has nothing to do with dessert .. can you just tell me what dessert you want?” His tone felt unnecessarily sharp, and it made us feel rushed and uncomfortable. Even when he came out to wish my stepdaughter a happy birthday, it didn’t feel genuine, which was disappointing, especially since this was a special occasion. This was my first time being served by Bernardo, and respectfully, I feel he needs more training and practice before continuing to attend tables. He did not display the courtesy, attentiveness, or professionalism I’ve come to expect from this restaurant. For customers like myself who have been coming here for quite some time, that difference in service is noticeable and disheartening. I also want to mention that I had recommended this location to a friend, and she happened to be there the same day celebrating her mother-in-law’s 90th birthday. She shared that she, too, felt the service and overall experience didn’t meet her expectations. That was especially disappointing to hear, since I had spoken so highly of this place in the past. On a positive note, I want to recognize the wonderful waitress who helped us during a previous visit. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely warm she even remembered my stepdaughter from before and made her birthday so special. Unfortunately, I don’t remember her name, but she truly represents great customer service and should be commended. I’ve always considered this my go-to spot, but after the last couple of visits especially this one I’m honestly reconsidering and may start trying other locations. I really hope management takes this feedback to heart, because I do love this restaurant and would like to see it return to the level of service it once had.
Vibes were great. But the food was pretty meh — with the exception of the green goddess salad. The tuna tartare tacos especially were not good...Everything else was just very eh.

Food was good, we tried all 3 sandwiches (snapper,steak and chicken) , with 3 different type of fries (plain,garlic and sweet potato). Deserts were fantastic, Staff was also very good. Only issue, the surcharge on the sandwiches for the view.

Seated immediately with reservations. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. It's on the pricier side but the serving sizes warrant that. All our dishes came out steaming hot and perfectly cooked.

The manager would not provide water for my service animal and told me Marin county laws prevent him from providing it. I asked for a to go container and he stated for sanitary purposes he can’t. I looked up the law and it states that they are not required to but its their choice if they decide to.
This did not make this a very happy hour!
I spoke with the GM at the end who told me that Marin county health department came down hard on them for providing water to service animals inside their establishment. I will be contacting the marin county health department to confirm.
The waitress and rest of the staff were very pleasant.
