We had a mixed experience. The filet was great, the trout overcooked. The garnish was already cold on arrival. Service was average at best. Great location though with a large fireplace and the setting sun behind the mountains.

Empty restaurant which at 5:30 p.m. announces that the next availability is at 8:30 p.m., we are hotel guests and have reserved a room for $350…
We dined at the bar and at 7 p.m. the restaurant room was 2/3 empty
First time in my life that I have been served a Caesar salad without chicken for $14, I am surprised that the chicken is extra at $6
A big nonsense where the notion of customer is non-existent

I would best describe this restaurant as hit or miss. For example, I had a chicken pot pie, featured as a smaller meal. Excellent. Golden flaky crust on top of a very flavorful chicken stew. The trout almandine was very average with a filet of trout with almonds on top of yellow rice and one 'roasted' carrot and one 'roasted' broccoline' both of which were mostly half done. The burger was basic and average. The vegetarian option, a roasted half acorn squash with quinoa was flavorful, but the three accompanying roasted carrots were raw. It also would have been better with some sort of sauce. The breakfast buffet looked like what is offered complimentary at many chain motels. We opted for the French toast, which was average. Since there are very limited dining options in Sequoia, you basically have to eat there.

Our experience was not great overall. The filet mignon was really good, but the accompanying vegetables were lukewarm. The trout was overcooked without much flavor and its rice pilaf was an overcooked lukewarm mass. The garden salad was fresh. Pacing was weird, they forgot our beer, and drinks sat without being refilled for a while.

The restaurant makes it convenient to find food within the park and is accessible till 10 pm for anyone looking to grab a bite. They have some grab and go bar food as well as a sit down restaurant. Also has a nice lounge area with a cozy fireplace and outdoor sitting if weather permits.

Too many wasps 🐝 everywhere !
They're attacking our food and we couldn't hide from them so decided to eat inside the room.
Please fix this issue!

We had dinner at 7.30pm. Vegetarian options are available (Pasta Marinara, Hummus Wrap, Salads, 1 Main Course). However, at 7.30pm the only vegetarian main course was sold out. Also it was not possible to alter the feta cheese in the salad for mozzarella, eventhough latter is on the menu as part of caprese salad. "They are prepared at different stations in the kitchen, it would be too complicated." What we had (House Salad, Soup of the Day, Hummus Wrap and Pasta Marinara) tasted okay. If we had had other possibilities, we would have chosen differently.

I just want to mention that the wings are quite good. I have the duck yesterday and it was very tough. I do not recommend it. I think a much better option for the restaurant is to buy the ducks from Costco. They have a 2 pack for about $25.00 of sous vide ducks. They are excellent. All you have to do is grill them or heat them up in an oven.

I realize that The Peaks has a captive audience and for that reason they get a slightly better review a normal restaurant. We staying at the lodge here and there is no other choice for sit down dining within 30 or 40 miles. The first night we kept it simple with a burger, chicken sandwich, and ceasar salad. All were good except the burger was very salty. The next night my wife had the fillet medium rare. It came out more on the rare wide with basically no vegetables. I have the duck. The waiter did warn me that some people didn't like it and that it sometimes came out rare. I know a lot of people don't like duck, so I took that with a grain of salt. I should have taken the waiter's advice. The duck was not rare, but it was tough, like from a very old bird that had been dead a long time. The breast part was better than the leg, but the experience was disappointing. I was tempted to tell the server that Costco has a 2 pack of sous vide ducks for $26.00 that is far superior in every way to what they serve at the Peaks. If there is a costco nearby, they should buy a freezer full. All you have to do is bake the pre-cooked 1/2 duck for 20 minutes at 325 degrees and you have a fantastic duck dinner. My son had the chicken sandwich again, which was good. The restaurant charges a $20.00 corkage even if you bring a screw top bottle of wine. All in all, its no a bad place. The ambiance is pleasant and the staff is very good.

My dish was fine. My husbands ribeye looked like leftovers. 1/2 inch thin, all fat and undercooked. I wanted him to send back but he's not that kind of guy. Our server was all business. No interaction with us at all. Got his job done efficiently but did dampen the experience a bit. The view /setting made up for it.
