Ordered the Beef ribs that was Dry and over cooked, with hardly any meat. Very disappointed.

Good customer service and great food! Ate the food before I could take pictures SO tasty!
Will come back next time I'm in the area!

Let me start with the good, the lady was nice service was good.

The food on the other hand was absolutely terrible. We got the brisket and chicken both were dry and when I say dry I mean it was tough to cut into them and the chicken was rubbery. I felt like we had to chew forever and have our drinks ready with each bite.
We went here yrs. ago and it was great not sure what changed but unfortunately we won't be going back.

All the food was great. My friends had fried chicken, and ribs. I had the potato skins. We all tried each other's plates amd it was delicious. The prices are very reasonable especially for the portion size. The server was polite and the restaurant and rest rooms were clean. Highly

Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The catfish dinner is also really good

Was going on a road trip and needed a place to have lunch, found this awsome place for eat, meats are fresh, full of flavor, all dishes well served and good amount, service was fast, great quality and variety in the menu, perfect place to stop by, refresh and support the locals

Wouldn't go back. Food was mediocre at best, slow service.. very disappointing overall. I hate to give a place a poor rating, but that's my honest take away.

Sadly this place is no longer the same AMAZING BBQ. Ownership changed. The service was wonderful and new owners are very friendly and attentive. So I hate leaving this review. But had I known this ahead of time we would not have made a special Father’s Day trip up to Shingle Springs. First clue: the parking lot was empty and only four other patrons in the restaurant. We ordered our usual and boy were we shocked. The ribs appeared to be like a store bought package as well as the pulled pork on the sandwich (seemed like it was pre packaged and not homemade) I could be wrong. But that’s our opinion. The cornbread was bland, definitely not back 40’s recipe. The chicken on the rib platter was the best thing according to my husband. The meat brisket was dry and flavorless, The Mac and cheese was dried out and cold ( it went untouched). The French fries were no longer the house cut fries but Ore Ida crinkle cut (most of those were left on the plate). The potato wedges had no flavor and the onion rings had no sign of an onion. I think the family agreed that we should have ordered the fried chicken, potstickers and fried rice instead. Strange to have that on the “Specials Menu” at a BBQ restaurant. Maybe they can change it to an Asian Infused BBQ! That would be worth checking out. See attached pictures for you to be the judge.

We love eating at the Back 40! The owners are wonderful people who are always working hard at the restaurant. Just a great place to go for good food, phenomenal service with reasonable prices. They do run out of food so getting there early is a must-if you want moist brisket ;)

Great service, food for hungry beings not the greatest but will do. Brisket,chicken recommended. If you can't smell it from the highway then you know it is what it is just eat.
