I seen Texas bbq, so we were heading to a wedding stopped for a quick bite. There was nothing quick about this place for 45 min to get soup and salad.then, when we entered, it was 1 chef and 1 waitress .and we're chinese running a bbq place .I'm like I'll give it a try.nothing against chinese. I love chinese food. Plus we were starving. Salads were good veggie soup was terrible and cheaply made.wheres the vegetables, mostly tomato broth. I'm not from shingle Springs Ca .maybe I didn't know what to order. Anyhow, I was late to wedding. Don't think I will go back if in the area.

The food was excellent. $70 for 2 with more than you can eat to take home. The service was great, the ambiance is Texas, of course. They offered several types of bread, and I went with cornbread. It's odd that they don't offer garlic bread. Prime rib is only offered on Friday and Saturday. I'll be back for that!

We had the moist beef brisket meal and it was very good. The pineapple bread was moist and tasted like dessert. We decided to try the egg rolls which had beef brisket in it. They came with sweet and sour sauce but we dipped them in the bbq sauce and they were really good! The lettuce in the salad was crisp and fresh and the bbq sauce had good flavor. We will be back.

Great service, food for hungry beings not the greatest but will do. Brisket, chicken recommended. If you can't smell it from the highway then you know it is what it is just eat.

I grew up going to back forty BBQ in Shingle Springs. I ordered food for pickup and the staff person who took my order and who checked me out was nice enough. It was around $90-100, and I feel like the quantity of food was good. But taste and quality - THIS IS NOT BACK FORTY TASTE AND QUALITY. I probably will not be going back.

The food and service are always fabulous. When I travel through Placerville, I always stop in for lunch! Yummy!

Appears this place is under new ownership. we haven't been to Back Forty for about a year, and previously it's been middling bbq with passable beer selection (bottles only). Now it's down-right bad bbq with only four choices for beer: corona, heineken, bud, and bud light. The ribs, brisket, and pulled pork were overly salty with no real seasoning to speak of. My wife ordered a glass of Chardonnay and got a glass of champagne. One look at the specials menu, shown below, reveals why. This isn't a bbq place anymore, it's Asian fusion.

Waiter was very nice, my table was clean. Plenty of options and items to choose off the menu, they also offer an asian catering of fried rice, egg rolls, wonton soup among other things lol. I ordered the long ranged meal with ribs, potatoes salad and Mac and cheese.

We usually go to the back 40 in Roseville and absolutely love it, we were a little disappointed in the shingle springs restaurant, the beef ribs were so SALTY they were barely edible we didn't enjoy the pork Ribs either they were tender but lacked flavor.

I went and had dinner there today. Very very disappointing. I noticed it’s a different owners different menu. Different food I had to beef, ribs, horrible horrible, horrible not the same back 40 years before in the past so sorry.

Had the pork ribs and they were delicious. Large portion. Also pineapple cake instead of cornbread and it was amazing. The ice tea was brewed and not instant. Will definitely be back.

A couple evenings ago, I felt like treating myself to a nice BBQ dinner. I drove up to the Shingle springs BBQ, was promptly seated, ordered the 4 bone spare ribs. When I bit into the first one I noticed the membrane hadn’t been pulled. Anybody that cooks ribs should know to pull it off. By the time I got it pulled, I had a total mess on my plate, and any flavor that might have been there was gone. The green salad, and the berms were tasty. Service was ok. No follow up.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access.
