Unexpected find on the CA BDR North. Great food … dinner and breakfast. They’re very generous with the coffee:). Loved the hospitality and had a great overnight stay. Biker friendly!
We just spent the night at this cute-as-pie little resort! It’s like summer camp designed by your cool outdoorsy grandma — vintage, quaint, and cozy. The cocktails are delicious with a modern twist, and the food is superb! We met the owners, who work right alongside their staff, and it truly feels like one big family.
We played pool in the game room and swam in their private swimming hole right on the Yuba. The location is perfect — close to great hiking trails and other river spots. Unlike most mountain cabins, they have WiFi in the common areas, which is super convenient. Highly recommend for anyone who loves nature steeped with adorableness, charm, and comfort!
Cute little get away spot. The owners are very nice.
Great food, HUGE portions.
Take a trip back to simpler times at this nostalgic gem of a resort. If you grew up coming to Sand Pond, Sardine Lake or bouldering along the Yuba River, or love the area in general, this is the spot for you! The rooms are older and rustic, but they are comfortable and have balconies to sit outside and listen to the peaceful roar of the Yuba. The restaurant has good food and you can enjoy a dinner outside right along their trout pond with views of the Buttes. Then in the morning, grab a hearty breakfast inside their historic dining room.
This area is magical, iykyn, and the owners are keeping the nostalgia alive with how well they are preserving the magic here and running this special spot along the Yuba River.
This place is such a hidden gem and we loved our stay here. Dog friendly, great food and plenty of parking.
We stopped for dinner and got more than we expected! The rib eye was phenomenal and came with a loaf of fresh baked bread that was the best we’ve ever had! Brussel sprouted were roasted to perfection with a balsamic drizzle, even my 11 year old, who isn’t normally a fan, devoured them. Quaint, rustic atmosphere that keeps the authority of the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!
I made reservations at this hotel months in advance for a very important and emotional reason: I was planning to stay here to honor what would have been my late father’s birthday. I even requested time off work specifically for these dates, building everything around this trip.
When confirming my reservation , I was told there had been a “computer glitch” and my reservation was given away. While I understand that technical issues can happen, it’s how a business responds that truly matters — and this hotel failed on that front.
There was no sincere effort made to make it right. No comparable accommodations were offered, no urgency to help me find a solution, and frankly, not much empathy. It felt like I was just another number, not a guest whose plans were completely upended.
This wasn’t just a weekend getaway — it was a deeply personal trip. The lack of responsibility, the absence of proactive customer service, and the total indifference to my situation were incredibly disappointing.
I expected much more from a professional establishment.
This is an older Inn-Lodge type place but very quaint and clean. We loved overlooking the river and waterfall. We are planning a trip back next year as we felt very peaceful here.
And great food too.

This place is made of memories of childhood trips with mom and dad. It is Rustic and charming. Although we were only able to stay one night, we could tell that the owners put a lot of love and care into this beautiful setting. The rooms are small yet clean and comfortable. The view from our front porch was of a lovely fish pond, stocked with very large trout, which are grown for the restaurant and fun fishing for the guests. For a fee, you can catch one to have for dinner or the owner will clean and package it for travel. We saw a 31 incher caught to the delight of all! I did walk down to the river and it is beautiful there. 3 or 4 tiers of cabins line the hill down to the river. I will go back someday!
Sierra Pines is charming- the setting is beautiful- hospitality is beyond excellent- Cindy (owner) was extremely accommodating- even kent us a cooler to help preserve our food- excellent food- Rainbow Trout is the best! river views see a waterfall!
Sierra Pines Resort is the perfect place for a peaceful get away. The room was cozy and the beds comfortable and I loved its rustic charm. There was no cell service in or near the room but that was a welcomed blessing. I recommend booking a room closest to the river as the view and sounds were amazing. The onsite restaurant was equally wonderful with excellent service and delicious food. The owners and staff were most welcoming and personable. I’ll definitely be returning soon.
Stopped by for dinner, right before closing. Friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. We had the trout...best fresh fish I've had in any restaurant! Will definitely be back - laid back and relaxed. Perfect ending to a great road trip
The owners went above and beyond for us, ensuring we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Set off the beaten path, a short drive from Downieville, this is the perfect location to stay and enjoy the quaintness of the Yuba River, complete with a waterfall and plenty of hiking paths.
