Fantastic traditional Japanese (as in not Korean, not American style).
Omakase was perfect & very fairly priced. Fish quality was over the top orgasmic good.
We also had the baby octopus salad photo attached that was absolutely fantastic tender and extremely tasty.
In short extremely glad we finally tried this place. Won’t be the last time for sure.

My friend took me for lunch here. It's his regular place but it was my first time. So both of us ordered omakase meals. Kind of exciting since we don't know what we're going to get. The sushi was incredible. So good. The chef sure made excellent choices for us. Every time a plate comes out, the waiter would explain to us what we get. Very friendly and professional.
We had a great time. Definitely will come back for more omakase.

Very nice small not well known place. Always excellent food. My Japanese friends like it so that's high praise indeed. I had yellow tail sashimi. Prices are a bit higher than some places but the food is worth

I recently revisited Kashiwa after a hiatus during the pandemic, finding that ownership had changed hands. Initially apprehensive about potential changes to the quality of the food, I'm pleased to report that my fears were unfounded. With some time to spare, my companion and I decided to pay a visit, and our experience left us happily surprised. One of my favorites maki is the off-menu umeshiso maki, and it is the first time i see it on a menu. Despite having dinner plans in less than two hours, we opted for a few items to savor the moment. The chirashi, priced reasonably at $45.00, was a delightful combination of generous fish portions and the perfect amount of rice. For those undecided, it's an excellent choice. In addition to the chirashi, I ordered the umekyu maki, fatty salmon nigiri, and a salmon skin roll. Each dish hit the mark in terms of taste and presentation. The miso soup was a flavorful accompaniment to the meal. The service remained as friendly and attentive as I remembered, and the ambiance, thankfully unchanged, retained the traditional Japanese restaurant feel that I've always appreciated about Kashiwa. Overall, my return to Kashiwa was not only reassuring but also a reminder of why it has been my favorite place for traditional Japanese sushi in Long Beach.
Parking: in front of the restaurant door there is an open parking lot for the strip mall.

Food is good, nice location and well decorated inside. Why the 2 stars? Price for food is very high. A chicken teriyaki bento box is $25.

Kashiwa is a fantastic restaurant with a fantastic omakase. The food is well worth the money, and is extremely fresh. While the price may turn away some you are paying for quality and a superb range of flavors that other sushi places do not achieve. The restaurant does get busy later in the day and for good reason, if you want to eat dinner here a reservation is a good idea.
Good food. Service OK. Very well priced for what you get.
Very disappointed they didn’t accept our gift certificate because it was a few years old. We were really looking forward to eating there again. Great food though.
Terrible. Info said open but when I arrived, it is closed. Would appreciated if their hours are updated correctly.
