Beer was good, but when we went up to order, the guy just stared at us and didn’t say a word. Would’ve been nice to hear, “can I tell you about our beers“ or even “can I help you”. Three other workers standing there the whole time bs’ing the whole time we were drinking our beer which didn’t really bode well for the place either.
Great beer here. Lots of different choices. Friendly service. Lots of outdoor space. Had a gorgeous grissette. Also had the rye IPA which was delicious.
Great in house brew menu. Decent sandwich menu. Outdoor dining preferred.
Discretion is our go to brewary in the Santa Cruz area. They always have a great selection of beers, with delicious food options, and an awesome atmosphere.
Very tasty beer. The Shimmer Pils is not as sweet as other regionally brewed beers, which I like as a Rhinelander. Unfortunately, when I visited, the beer in the Cologne brewing tradition wasn't available on tap, but we were given a can.
The food also tastes very good and is well seasoned. There is even an outdoor area, a kind of beer garden, with pretty plants (rosemary, tomatoes, hops, thyme, mint, etc.). The staff were all very nice and helpful. It's not very touristy but very modern and lots of locals. Thanks for the tip from the lady from Año Nuevo Reserve Park. (This park is also recommended.)
Addendum: You can drink beer according to the Cologne brewing tradition. At first I was skeptical because it had honey on it, but after the first sip the can was almost empty because it tasted good. Thanks for the nice evening.
Must have caught a bad day, had a flight with half flawed. Rye Lager was slick, be sure to have proper yeast management, and clean equipment! IPA was pretty astringent, mash management, dont over sparge.. double ipa was a bit oxidized, be sure to purge containers with co2 before filling.. the barrel aged trippel was tasty but not a trippel (curious if this was fresh american oak or a reused vanilla barrel? ) Barrel aged porter was also kinda astringent. Anyway, I guess i should have stuck to the rye ipa hah :) Probably comes off as a beer snob, but the showing was not so great this time, not sure its worth the next time with all the other breweries in SC
Great beer, food, and ambiance! As chill and cozy as the rest of Santa Cruz, loved landing on this spot. Family and pet friendly outdoor space
Food was meh...should've skipped after I saw cook drop something on floor and then plated it up like nothing happened...also every time I get their beer I get an extremely bad cheap champagne headache...red-headed stepchild trivia host is a general douchebag...don't go here Santa Cruz...lets put this place out of business
Great dog friendly patio, loved the Light House Point IPA and the Big Dipper. The meatball sandwich was delicious.
Very nice selection of beers. Food also quite nice. Indoor and outdoor seating. Recommended.

Great beer, excellent service and great music!
Great beer choices and delicious food.
Food was good (well made), vibe of the workers was good (helpful), atmosphere good...but the beers at (and from) Discretion....always excellent. I love their mission of sustainability and quality ingredients. Will be back, mainly for the brews (their Scenic Stout is my favorite local beer). A couple of noticings: pricing on beers was not on the signs, which would have helped. A physical menu to pick up and look at would have been nice, since this was my first time eating there, and standing in front of a wall menu next to the bar for food, and behind the bar for beverages, is socially a little uncomfortable. (QR codes may replace this minor void for some, but imo it forces customers to be glued to our phones rather than present with each other). One more minor thing: I was sitting there enjoying War Pigs by Sabbath playing overhead, and they pulled the plug in the middle as they started to close up and vibe us out during closing time at 9pm. There are few rules in life, and one of them is: "Thou shalt not disrupt a classic Sabbath song mid riff." Enjoyable outing. 5 stars.
My new favorite brew pub. I sampled some outstanding brews and had one of the best meat balls sandwiches ever. The staff is super helpful, friendly and fun. Great lunch and then walk it off at the beach.
The food is delicious, they have the best bread! All kinds of craft beer, all refreshing and cold. Friendly service and large patio, dog friendly fun place ❤️❤️
