Used to be my favorite restaurant until they sold to a different owner and then closed for several health code violations. Such a shame.

Star of Siam is our favorite Thai restaurant of all time! The food is delicious and the service is always friendly. Don't forget to try the Thai iced tea. :)

WARNING - this place is closed according to their website. It's not updated here on Yelp and didn't know until we drove there because Yelp said it was open but ended up being closed and honestly looked abandoned. I couldn't give a true review since we didn't get to actually eat here but just wanted to let the community know so they don't waste their time driving there. Check their website for updates and hopefully they will reopen again soon and I'll be able to give them a 5 star review.

Love this place, although with the change of owners over the years, it tasted more like Chinese-Thai and not Thai food. But Hope it reopens!

This place is my FAVORITE Thai restaurant!!! Was heading there only to find out they are temporarily closed. Come on here to see if I could find out why. Haven't found out yet. I did start reading reviews and the negative one from MS is totally fake!! If you look at the other reviews you will see they are all over the US. Most likely this restaurant didn't pay yelp money and they are being punished with fake reviews from yelp employees. I know this happens because it happened to my when I own a skin care business. If you love thai food then you will love this place!!! I go to every Thai place I see and this is by far the BEST!! I pray they will reopen and soon. Missing it badly!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Added pics this time.. we did a soup this time, it was ok. We also ordered spicy basil entree, but was same as noodles without noodles. Do not order both together, I will stick with spicy noodles.

Food is as excellent as ever. Flavors are good and love the atmosphere. Yes it is a bit slow but hey good food takes time. Come here to relax and enjoy the food. Portions are generous.

I normally love this place. I know they have new ownership-so I'll give them a chance. Was very disappointed with the tofu pad Thai I ordered tonight, didn't have the wider rice noodles like it should and was lacking flavor. :(

I have been going to Star for 32 years and seen a number of owners. I really don't like giving bad reviews because we're all trying our best. I'm hoping the new owners read this review and fix the things I feel have really slipped. we are not going back, which is sad cuz we usually took out once a week. there are a number of suggestions/criticisms but mainly it was the attitude. also I asked if it was the same chef and they said yes. so I guardedly asked if they could cook my food (Coconut Chicken Soup and Masaman Beef) without sugar (diabetic) as the previous two owners. I was told flatly "no". I asked if she could at least ask the chef, who has known me for many years. she came back saying "no". so...I can't really tell you if the food is better or worse...judge for yourselves.

Food is the best! Thai spicy for real. Rose the waitresses is the sweetest and best server around! The papaya salad and Tom Kha are great, but so is everything!

BEST THAI IN SANTA CRUZ!!! This place is wonderful, the only thing better than the food what the service! In particular, our sever Rose was one of the best servers I've had the pleasure of experiencing. She told us all about Thailand and where we should go when we visit. Most Thai restaurants don't make it "Thai spicy" but let me tell you, (if requested) they will put fresh red chilies in their dishes. SO GOOD! Rose actually grows these chilis at her house and brings them into the restaurant to ensure freshness. 10/10 would recommend this place

98% of the time my reviews are positive. But I felt I needed to share our experience. My wife and I decided to try Star for the first time, but when we went in and were told to sit anywhere we then waited for over 10 minutes for anyone to come ask us if we'd like water/drink.We then had as our server a woman who was a little older and possibly an owner. She was pleasant enough at first while we ordered. We told her we couldn't have spicy food, but we'd like the tilapia but with the penang curry sauce. It usually comes with salmon. She said it was no problem to make it with the tilapia instead and make it not spicy. We also got the chicken satay, pad thai and pineapple fried rice.Out of 5 stars I rate the dishes:Chicken Satay- ** Chicken is pounded too thin and long and ends up dry.Pad Thai- * The worst I've ever tasted. Very heavy handed on the tamarind. The dish looked more like pasta with marinara sauce it was so red!! It lacked flavor and we ordered it with shrimp and only got 2 shrimp!!Pineapple Fried Rice- *** Rice was ok, but was lacking flavor as well.TILAPIA- 0 out of 5 stars‼ Our server brought us the wrong order. She brought salmon and it was so spicy it almost made me sick. When we told her it wasn't what we ordered she insisted we made the mistake not her. We assured her we ordered it correctly, but her entire demeanor changed and she rolled her eyes and started ignoring us. Then she came to the table and demanded that we ordered another item. So we ordered the fresh spring rolls which were very good. She was mad we ordered those cause they weren't as expensive as the fish. After that she proceeded to walk by our table to check on the customers behind us but ignored us. We had to ask for our bill. We did give her the usual tip.*****If you're in Monterey and want excellent thai food try Siamese Bay. The owner is very sweet and he's been there for over 45 years. And if you ask for a no spice sauce his chef gets it right❣✌?
