Food has always left me stuff, can't get enough. Times I had to sit in the car because I ate to much lol. But over all great customer service and good people. Kool Aid on point.

I have been looking for this business to give it an honest negative review. DO NOT EAT HERE. The customer service is trash, the health precautions are trash, and the quality of the food is straight trash. Literally nobody is in the front to take your order, but they charge you and then they say they never got your order to the kitchen....family owned and operated and it should be condemned. The catfish was straight TRASH & the corn bread was hard as a rock. Will never be coming here again. If you want good soul food. Go to "OFF DA HOOK"

Disgusting food! This place has gone downhill...never had an issue with them until this last time! Ordered through Uber Eats. The photo speaks for themselves! Red beans and rice had a hair in it smh and just look at the red beans and rice lol it looks like they scooped up the little bit they had left in the bottom of the pan...you know the burnt rice and beans that stick to the bottom...terrible and they didn't give me my $7 peach cobbler I ordered! Either they forgot it or didn't have anymore! Will never eat here again! $45 gone down the drain

So, I decided to give this spot another try since the food was good first time. This time I opted to call at 530pm.... Google says open until 9pm. She said "We are closed! "Wtf it's 530! She said ok, I will take your order ...I said well I am driving 40 min away...she said okay! How sweet.., I asked for 1 oxtail dinner and 1smothered steak. Asked for yams and greens and mac and cheese. I got 3 sides Mac and greens only. Still grateful to, because I told her I only had some of the cash and she said it's ok and kindly sent me home! Main issue I have is ....I didn't get ANY gravy at all I had a comfort food craving and that entails lots of smothered gravy. I had to come home and make some gravy. I believe they have new owners because the name changed to Sol of Los Angeles. There is a buffet in Gardena...it's written on the wall!****Owners ****please update the hours on line ,I drove really far and they were closing hours earlier. I included a screenshot of the information given. I just tried the smothered steak I used to love and this one today is dry, unflavored and hard with no gravy. Oxtails we're very small and minimal, no gravy and overpriced for the value. Both these items total close to $40....

This is by far my worse experience with soul food For sure picked the right name . It's supposed to be comforting but this is a disappointment I order 2 orders of smothered pork chops and I only received one No gravy , pork chop aren't fresh , rice is watery cornbread is soggy. I cant even eat this.

Paid $11 for two small orders of Mac and Cheese that was obviously not fresh. I went in to order and the guy behind the counter didn't even explain that there were different sizes available and there is no menu besides a chalk board. I have a picture of the mac in my phone somewhere but I'm not going to spend the time to search and upload it right now. Granny's is way better and if you have the time of the craving make the trip to Chef Marilyn's off Crenshaw & Adams. Nothing compares.

Happy doesn't cover it!! I've loved Dirty South since it was the original buffet in Gardena, and happily drive from the valley to their location in South Gate to grab some food from here! Not only is it the perfect spot to stop in and grab a plate (or 2) but they don't play when it comes to catering!!Katarra is the sweetest!! Not only was she kind, professional and on point-she was able to help me with a special request and adjust the serving sizes to accommodate my party! ....and on top of all of that-delivered everything to me, on time, 30 MILES AWAY!!! Yes, there was a fee but it was beyond reasonable! I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out!Thank you so much Kat and everyone at Dirty South!

THIS BUSINESS IS NOT CLOSED!! THEY ARE OPEN!!Let me tell you, when I say this is the best soul food in Los Angeles. THIS IS THE BEST SOUL FOOD IN LOS ANGELES. Better than Roscoes, better than Dulans. I could go on. I've been coming here for a few years now, before Covid when they were a Buffet. The Buffet was popping. Now they're open for pick up. The food is delicious. I'm a vegetarian so I get the vegetarian combo that comes with three sides and a biscuit for only 8.99. I get 2 of them thangs. The collard greens are perfectly seasoned the potato salad is tasteful. The red beans and rice, perfect. The koolaid thooo. Oh yea!! The prices are insanely affordable, Much more reasonable than others soul food spots. I highly recommend. My mouth droolin typing about it. Check em out.

Have you ever been to a church potluck where everybody brought their best homemade dish and you can't decide what to eat next because everything is SOOO GOOD?!?! Add some good music and friendly service to that and you have Dirty South Buffet. Two thumbs up!!

There's a warmth, kindness, generosity, and humility here I can hardly explain. The food is wonderful. They must have a troop of grandma's in the back whipping up their best recipes. The fried chicken is crisp, juicy, seasoned perfectly. The baked BBQ pork ribs feel like a warm hug from your favorite auntie. The green beans are sweet, salty, rich. I can keep going, but you must go try it. This place goes beyond food, like a kind neighbor eager to make a new friend, and this neighbor knows how to cook!

Food is good.....was caught off guard with the plastic plates.....but after thinking about it was good I knew they were clean.....the parking suck but the shopping center is across the street plenty parking there.....no restrooms inside you have to go out and around the side to use one.....

The food is wonderful especially the catfish it's delicious, however, it is hard to get what you need. You have to find someone to help you and have to ask for simple stuff like a folk, a lid etc etc. The whole buffet styled soul food idea is amazing. Needs to hire a better restaurant manager and image consultant literally drove by it twice before noticing the signage. With all that being said the restaurant food is great and will be returning.
