This place serves the best catfish and shrimp I've found in the El Cajon area. I've been to two of their locations, both of them located inside convenience stores / liquor stores. If they just had a sit down restaurant, it would be perfect! I always eat in my vehicle since it would take me 15-20 minutes to get home and I was to eat while it's hot and fresh.

Called and ordered the 20 piece small shrimp with fries and coleslaw. Everything was very good, service was quick and friendly, and it's inside of a liquor store, so that's convenient. Plenty of parking. Will go back.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Captain Sam’s, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish! The catfish was absolutely delicious—perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. The shrimp were equally impressive, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The fries were golden and crispy, a great side that complemented everything. As for the chicken wings, they were seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of crispiness.

What truly made the meal unforgettable was the service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, creating the perfect dining environment. Overall, Captain Sam’s exceeded my expectations in every way—great food, fantastic service, and a wonderful experience. I’ll definitely be back!

I love the cod and jumbo shrimp combo. Everything is made fresh! I eat here often.

Ordered their fried chicken on Uber Eats and it was so good and seasoned well! The chicken was still hot and crunchy when it was delivered. I’ve tried both Chicago style with the hot sauce on it and the regular hard fried with extra lemon pepper. Both so good. Definitely a must try!

Got the 2 piece cod. The breading came right off the fish when I touched it. The fish was dry and slhad no seasoning. Even the hot sauce tasted gross. And their tartar sauce was in a packet n gross. Won't be going here again.

What makes Captain Sam's menu so good is his own Menu, recipes and fresh ingredients!

The kitchen is so clean, and the staff is friendly and professional!

His new fried Chicken Sandwich is unbelievable! Try it!

Captain Sam knows what he's doing in his business!

The best fried chicken I have had since moving to Vegas. Everyone there was so inviting . If you haven’t experienced them yet , please give them a try . I usually don’t do reviews but this one was a must. Will definitely be back for more .

The food cane and they gave very little fries with my boneless chicken combo as well as my 20 piece small shrimp combo. Not worth it for the price. Go to the one on Home Ave in San Diego. They will fill your box up. I will not be ordering from this location again.
