I've come to this gem for amazing brisket since the re-open. Today I paid $28. For 2 pieces/slices of brisket and a pile of fries, and a coleslaw. Wow! Sticker shock. The service is not really there, just someone takes your order in the shack. I did not wait long with only a couple of people there around 2pm it was quick.

Coffee, Smoothies, Salads, Burritos, Breakfast. You can really pick anything on the menu and it'll be good. But the Shack has always been known for their BBQ plates which are my favorite in SD. The wait can be long sometimes during their peak hours but its better to order online anyways.

Everything is good except for the wait! Be prepared to wait more than 30 min for your food to come out! Oh and check your order. They never give you the sauces on the side. Before you could grab your own but now they control it. I placed my order on line and it’s been 40 min and still no order and this is after I got a text saying it was ready. I ordered the Mexican mocha and it was gross. Taste like it was missing an ingredient. I paid over $70 today for my order. I’m not doing this again. It’s too bad.

I ordered chilaquiles for breakfast. I waited 45 minutes for my order and when it came it looked delicious.
The over-easy eggs with runny yolk I was looking forward to were overhard. That was bearable since I figured the time it took to get my food contributed to the effect. But as I finished my food, I looked up at the menu thinking something was missing. Lo and behold I see the first ingredient is supposed to be chorizo. There was no chorizo. As I finish I see a single, tiny little piece of chorizo.
The menu concepts and ingredient quality is fairly good. They just need to work on execution. What I ate certainly wasn't worth $14

Great food. Good atmosphere. The Chile Relleno burrito is chefs kiss and the milkshakes are truly craft.

Imagine being on TIMED lunch, and you're trying to help out someone local. You order ahead (online) and you receive a confirmation email stating your order will be ready for pickup at said time. You arrive 5mins after said time to ensure that it's ready, just to be told wait another 5 minutes. You're on lunch but no problem I'll wait. 15+ mins later they finally bring out your stuff. Now you're upset and pressed for time because my lunch is basically over and I'm on my work time again. You rush off trying to get back to work just to notice while driving they forgot a large portion of your order. Now you not only lose out on lunch but you're cutting into your pay and losing gas because you have to turn around. I'd give it zero stars if I could. That's why I'm reluctant to eat at businesses I don't know about or frequent. What a lost of time and waste of energy being upset as your stomach rumble smelling the now cold food.

This place has no business being this good! It's a bit spendy, but you get what you pay for. Some of the best French fries I've had in San Diego. And I lived here for 30 years. The meat is tender and juicy. The sauces are ridiculously good. 10/10 will come again.

When you pay 30$ for a plate of brisket and it’s COLD and about 80% fat it’s extremely frustrating not to mention I asked for Mac and cheese and I got beans extremely

This Shack at Valley Farm's Market in Spring Valley has changed identity a couple of time, but now they seemed to blended the best of both worlds: A coffee shop and a BBQ house with smashed burgers and tacos.I've been to the shack of a couple of times now. First was for some coffee and an avocado toast. The coffee was good, and the avocado toast was really good and came with plenty of smashed avocado. Now, the double smash burger with fries was fantastic. They use quality beef, which is ground in-house, at the marker next door. The beef flavors were great, and the burger as w whole was great, too. The double smash burger comes with sauteed umami onions, American cheese, a secret sauce, on a toasted brioche bun. You can get this great burger on Thursdays for $10.99. Any other day, the double smash costs $14.99. It comes with fries. They offer outside shaded seating and service is very friendly.

They messed up my order the first time I ordered from there! I was missing both sides with my chicken! The chicken was okay. Nothing special about it! I will try again the second time around.
