Gonna love it and scary if you want scary stuff or beautiful stuff

They charged $70 for turning in a camcorder for a student project several days late. They charged a separate late fee for the LENS CAP and the USB. $10+ each. That’s after I appealed it, too. Very unfair practice when students are already tight on money. This blocked me from checking out a book I needed for a midterm.

I have been using the tech desk laptop rentals, and the process is simple; however their policies are not flexible. I have a personal computer that I am no longer able to use; I have been relying on the tech desk since I have been waiting on Stanford financial aid to assist me with buying a new computer. Recently, I was forced to return a laptop, because of a policy that they must have one laptop in possession at a time. This policy has forced me to be without a laptop. I wonder how they could have left themselves with 0 laptops at the end of the day and force me to return my laptop.

I ordered the Kimchi Rice Bowl and it was perfect! Fresh ingredients, made to order. Being that this is one of the only places in the area that you can get rice bowls, I am so gratefuI for this place. The price is reasonable (around $9.50 for the bowl). The ambience is a little high school cafeteria-esque, but clean, when I visited mid-afternoon. You can easily go eat outside if you're not feeling it down in the seating area. They also have ramen and pho! Which are next on the list to try.

Great place for a quick bite or coffee

I am so sad that this is now the nearest place to eat while I'm at work. :( It's uncomfortable sitting beneath the jarring florescent lights staring at the bright white, blank walls and reading the ugly font on the signs that say "RICE BOWLS" and "GRAB GO". Not a place where anyone wants to stay for very long. The ambience just isn't as inviting as a the Med Cafe at Li Ka Shing or any of the various dining options at Tressider. I think this may be due to the florescent lighting and lack of imagination put into the decor. I had a pork rice bowl with brown rice which was just okay. I liked the fresh veggies but the flavor wasn't distinct or even enjoyable and the rice wasn't very tasty, either. I also had a double macchiato that didn't taste nearly as good as Cafe Venetia's at Caltrain which was kind of disappointing. The service was just okay, definitely not bad. I think if the ambiance were just a little better the food might actually taste a little better, too. I hope this improves soon!

Clean, never busy, but very tiny food portions for the prices.

Quiet place, good for studying.

Even Smartin did not like it. They pretentiously called their dish curry while it was basically just ketchup.

Food is marginal. Coffee is horrible. Don't go here for espresso or espresso-based drinks. They only fill half of the portafilter for each shot... and you get a black - colored water.

Oh how have I not rated this place. Things here are definitely so overpriced for what you get, and I totally agree with the reviewer that says this café takes advantage of the fact that they're like the only food option in this region of campus. That being said, I've gotten the rice plate a bunch of times which is relatively filling and gives you a bunch of variety in vegetables. I've also tried the daily pasta which is always good. The breakfast burrito most definitely is not good though. Service here is a hit or miss; I think in general everyone's pretty nice, but it's a pretty dull place on campus to be (the basement of a building) so I think the lack of sunlight probably gets to people lmao.

Lathrop Café is decent. It has lovely staff, decent coffee, good cookies and pastries made in store, and loads of quiet space to work and talk. A lot of students and professors use it for casual interviews, working on laptops, things like that. It's clean, spacious, quiet, and friendly. The cooked food, however, is really not great. I like the breakfast sandwich, but otherwise I'd generally avoid it. I go to Lathrop a lot, but rarely eat there. I think you should do the same.

The 2-star rating is an average of my rating for their rice bowls (3 stars) and their singularly atrocious beef pho (1 star). Rice bowls (rice + 1 type of meat) are 8.95+tax, and there is a nice male server who really ladles on the ingredients. Beef Pho: This iteration has the distinction of being the worst Beef Pho that has ever crossed my lips. It not only tastes bad but feels unhealthy too. The soup is a concentrated NaCl solution. Are they trying to grow salt crystals? Chemistry building's across the quad.
