Stanford tends to launch students into high-impact tracks — research, startups, big tech, policy, and venture networks. The school is built to convert ambition into opportunity.
UC Davis, meanwhile, often markets prestige without delivering equivalent career outcomes. Many grads report earning around $58k ten years after enrollment, which is tough in California’s cost of living — especially with Bay Area proximity. That gap between title and practical ability can create a perception in industry that some graduates were trained to look credentialed rather than to perform. Companies sometimes respond by being cautious about “UC product” hires who show degrees and buzzwords, but less applied problem-solving experience.
There’s also a campus culture where appearing agreeable can matter more than building real skill. Professors often act as gatekeepers, and students learn to navigate personalities instead of developing independence. This can leave graduates technically qualified on paper, but underprepared in environments that require initiative and depth
Today is March 13, 2026 and I’m working hard to make my dream of getting into Stanford a reality. I’m determined that next year, I’ll be a law student here.

Professor Michele Dauber rant on Twitter is disgusting! Disappointed that Professors are letting their personal beliefs mix in with work. Honestly Im scratching off Stanford from my list of schools I’m applying. Columbia has another professor just like her. Education has sunk low and beyond.
Recent defamatory tweets by Law Professor Michele Dauber regarding Camille Vasquez are appalling and highly unprofessional. They set a standard no lawyer or Stanford Law student should pursue. I would expect higher professional standards from someone in her position.
Michele Dauber - fire her. She does not speak for women, she does not speak for me.
Very beautiful, especially the red maple trees in front of the door.
Should I go here?
