Ordered the combo dinner, with shrimp tempura and tonkatsu. The pork tonkatsu was so over cooked you could you could not chew it. When done I told the waitress to let the cook know about it. No sorry, no bill comp, no nothing. Not going back. On previous visits items are either forgotten or wrong. Tired of the service. Kabuki here we come!

The service was great, food was good. Butttttt, our whole family got food poisoning and I'm not sure why. Everything was clean and cooked right. I will give them another try and see if it happens again.

Dm please don't eat here. They do not follow health regulations at all. They leave fish overnight outside the walk in. They leave shrimp out of the fridge to make easier for them to prep the orders for the Teppan tables. They also leave all the vegetables out of the fridge all day/night. You will 100% get sick from their fish especially the ahi tuna. Wish I took more pictures. If you eat here just eat the steaks and maybe the chicken but no promises you won't go to the bathroom after eating here.

Yesterday was my first time coming here. I've heard nothing but great things about Yamato so I was very excited to try it. Unfortunately, I left uncomfortable and unhappy. While the food was good, the service was terrible, mainly from the chef. (I also did not get the amount of food I paid for.) To keep it brief, my boyfriend and I were sitting at the table with a family of 5. The chef immediately greeted the family and did not acknowledge my boyfriend and I until a little later. He made jokes, which I laughed at but the jokes got out of hand. The jokes towards the family and even my boyfriend were lighthearted but the jokes to me were not jokes. Despite me smiling the entire time, the chef kept making remarks about my "attitude". Said he would "call the manager for me" and yelled. THIS IS WHERE I WAS FED UP. He served the family rice, served my boyfriend rice, served me a spoonful of rice, and served the family extra rice. He then served me the remaining rice. I should've left at this moment. THE FINAL CHERRY ON TOP; he made the onion tower, told my bf he would make his dreams come true and when the fire went out he said "aw man she's still here". He proceeded to "joke" about me having an attitude and served me last with smaller portions. I ordered chicken and shrimp hibachi and the server told me I would essentially get more shrimp since the meal comes with shrimp appetizer. Well I got the least amount of shrimp. It felt like he was being stereotypical with the attitude jokes because I am a black woman. I can take a joke and the jokes would make sense if I was going to a comedy show but I came to a restaurant to enjoy food and have a good time. If the jokes were out of pocket to everyone or if this was the nature of the restaurant then fine but it is not. The chef stated that I would give a bad review on yelp (clearly because he knew he was out of pocket) and I was not going to but after speaking to other people about my experience and them stating that I should have left and not accepted that type of treatment especially because they had a great experience and never had that type of treatment ... I am leaving this review. It's unfortunate that I was excited to come here but I will not be back if this is how I will be treated.

Very disappointed! Almost $500 later food was bland. NY steak was poor quality of meat, fried rice was okay. Our server was great! Not sure why they were allowing people to walk around selling artwork in there very strange. Honestly Benihana's is a better choice. We will not be back.

So furious right now. Yamoto took a reservation for my son's 18th birthday. I organized the guests and the after events and people rearranged their schedules around this reservation. Today they called me to tell me it was their "policy" to not take reservations on a Friday. I asked that they honor the reservation, despite their policy, because they made a mistake taking the reservation and leaving me no time to reschedule something for my son's birthday celebration. I got the complete runaround from a manager, Robert, who claimed his hands were "tied" by the "policy", and he could only give me the first name of the owner, who is Ken (last name secret). So this manager is unable to provide ANY customer service. Basically they didn't give a flying flip that it was their mistake, they were unwilling to fix their mistake, they're unwilling to take my money for a large party, and they just ruined my son's birthday, and wasted everyone's time who was planning to attend. Please think twice about using this establishment for any events, or even going for dinner. They don't give a hoot about their customers.

Delicious food and incredible service! Mario was our chef and he was so fun and entertaining. Our server, Christina, is one of the best we've ever had! Very attentive and personable, we had a great time!

Very disappointed and ? with the Manager , waiter and service never came back to see if we needed refills or if we were all right to see if everything was good ? one of my guest did not get their food they just forgot to take it to her. they said oh yes, we had it but we forgot ? they’re like do you still want it of course not everybody else had finished eating no apology .but when they brought the bill they had the tip on there already on for 18% . I asked if they could reduce the tip to 15%. Since they had forgotten to serve one of my guests . they Didn’t do it very upsetting. We were a party of seven.?

Had a blast, service was good, and the food was great. My only complaints at all was that the miso was a little watered down, and teriyaki sauce was pretty bland. Other than that, I couldn't have been happier. Definitely will be back again for those special occasions. Oh, the bar has good 5 dollar apps, and the food comes out super quick, so place to stop while waiting for your table.Parking: Large giant shopping center parking.

I was not impressed by the cook, I was further not impressed by him giving an entirely different party 6 of my shrimps from my filets mignon & shrimp combo. I honestly wanted to tell him to give them the rest and serve me an entirely new dish. I think I'll call tomorrow and complain actually.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in whole SCV valley with healthy and delicious food that will leave you full after I came here today to celebrate my mothers birthday our server was nuce and our chef was very nice to all of us the Ambiance makes me feel like I'm in Japan but beware if your bringing a large party expect to pay like around 600 but it still a very good place I hope to come back in the future.
