I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars. There has to be someone posting fake reviews. First off, the whole dining room area is crazy dirty. If it’s this messy and unkept in the customer area, I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like 🙈 Customer service was just as bad. I approached the counter and the person didn’t say a word- it was awkward.. I got 2 tacos, both were bland and soggy. I tried the chicken place next door the same evening, and I’m thinking they must be under the same management because they’re both seriously lacking in terms of food and service. I definitely wouldn’t go back to either.

The Suisun City Ohana Hawaiian Barbecue on 1240 Anderson Drive gave me the most degrading experience of my life. I called to order a small chicken katsu side dish over the phone. Just a small side dish, one box, is what I said over the phone. The woman who answered told me each piece of katsu was $3.25. Chicken Katsu is usually served in chopped up little pieces, so I assumed she meant each little piece of Katsu was $3.25. That didn’t sound right, so I asked for a moment to confirm on their website. Their website does not have prices listed and it’s really not helpful at all. She rushed me saying other customers were in line so I needed to order right away. I decided to order ten pieces then so I wouldn’t hold up the line.
When I get there, she gives me this huge box of chicken katsu. I tried telling her the order was wrong, and all I wanted was one little box. The whole time she is giving me attitude, talking to me like I’m an idiot. She told me the order was right and asked me what else I wanted. I kept trying to explain to her that even though this was “correct” in her opinion, it was not for me. When I kept trying to explain, she finally rolled her eyes, took the box, and threw it on the back table, visibly upset. She proceeded to angrily give me a refund, then she stormed off to get her manager who was sitting in the corner nonchalantly. He comes up to the register and doesn’t even look at me or ask what happened. She asks him “I was right, right?” And he nods his head. She expresses how irritated she is with me for not understanding that she was right, and I was wrong.
I did not feel like I could communicate further with her on what she meant by “piece” over the phone. I did try a bit on the phone but she still insisted each “piece” was $3.25, and because she rushed me I couldn’t try to explore what she meant. When I came in person to try to explain what I actually wanted, she kept arguing and giving me so much attitude, being condescending, getting angrier the more I spoke, and treating me like I’m an idiot. She kept insisting that a huge box of chicken katsu is what I wanted, and she didn’t even attempt to understand what I was trying to say.
The Suisun City location’s manager and cashier don’t care at all about giving any respect or for food safety. The manager saw the whole thing, since he was sitting in the corner of the restaurant with his dog, which, as a former restaurant employee, shouldn’t be allowed in restaurants because of sanitation concerns, but of course they aren’t concerned about sanitation either. So not only did they waste ten “pieces” of chicken katsu, but they had a dog in the restaurant the whole time. The manager let that cashier talk to me like that, not even looking at me when he was standing right in front of me. He didn’t see anything wrong with how she was treating me.
I noticed their food tastes bland compared to the Fairfield one anyways. It’s been like that for years. They act like customers who don’t just give them their hard-earned money for their bland food and horrible service are an inconvenience. Imagine getting off of work after a hard day, and you’re treated like trash, and you’re expected to pay $32+ for food you didn’t ask for, but the cashier is getting increasingly angry with you and insisting this is the food you wanted. I can barely afford gas and to take care of my own health. Life is tough, but you don’t have to treat people like this.
I don’t know if anyone else has had similar experiences with this Suisun City location, but spare yourself from the disrespect and your money from being wasted on a disappointing meal and don’t go there.
The food was okay. It was just a new place I wanted to try to go eat something new.
