Fried chicken, Mexican food..... Delicious!!

First off, it's got chevron gas! Plus restroom access. But it's got great looking fried chicken, but I got the corn dogs and deep fried burritos. Also other foods, but I was in a hurry, it was called Bobby Salazar's. Customer service was good, the food server handed me the food and the cashier handed me the mustard, I'm guessing because of covid-19. They looked really good, only issue, they weren't hot, just Luke warm, what a disappointment. Oh well, I got gas and bathroom break, and man, Tehachapi was windy and cold, I thought I was in Chicago!

Before flying J opened this was the only place we got gas. The prices were decent and they have a great store attached to get snacks and drinks. They also have Chesters Chicken and Bobby Salazar Express inside, you can grab and go. Not sure if there are tables to sit at, don't remember seeing any in my last visit. After flying J came to town we signed up for the rewards program and saved three cents a gallon. I know it's not much but anything helps. So it's been awhile since I have come here. Usually customer service is decent and store and bathrooms are clean. One side of the building is the Barn and the other is Chevron. We never have purchased gas from Chevron, gas is usually 70 cents more a gallon. No thank you! The barn has only 4 pumps and you get cars going different directions and it's a tight fit. If you are driving something big it could be a real pain.

Gas station is fine, the Chester's Fried Chicken is overpriced. Bought a small potato wedge side, 4 small wedges does not make a side. Very cheap. Go to McDonald's or Wendy's. You'll get a better deal.

The place can seem appealing because there's a few restaurants inside. I've been coming here off and on just to be on the road where mountain scenery reminds me of subtle perfections so typical in nature: clouds, birds, drivers, rocks, weird-looking places. But what may seem to be a lot at the surface involves little depth to what's making Chevron a hotspot near Wendy's as far as gas is concerned. There's Mexican food, there's Italian pizza, and there's Chester's (a fried chicken spot). While I like the idea of dealing with a few restaurants at one location the whole place is really a place for getting gas as opposed to eating tacos, pizza, and fried chicken, since the workers can be so busy that none of these food items will actually taste good. You'll find the same workers going between the destinations located inside under pressure from constant doing and working for customer satisfaction although each happy face, or confused head, doesn't necessarily add a nice touch to bad food: burnt potato wedges, cold biscuits, tough carne asada, cheap beans, bitter tomatoes, etc. At least I can totally eat at 3 different restaurants in one area for immediate knowledge of their qualities. Chevron has fine gas. My dad's been filling up on gas and taking it to the road. Still, I would've liked good food. Everything about the restaurants is kind of random on the food in mixed bags for presentation despite the fact I'm trying to get a plate of anything worth biting into, since the workers ought to know how their food affects customers who pardon hats and dress for sauces under the roof blazing of late-70's music. Songs come off the roof in nice jingles and I feel like the chicken tenders don't really match such quality in music. A problem with this “3 restaurant” deal is that there's one tiny lobby inside for dining. Yeah, that makes sense! How are customers supposed to eat at 3 different restaurants for one tiny lobby? The whole place is small; it feels cramped and freaky. Dreaming of fried chicken here might just about always be better than actually having the fried chicken, sides and forms to Chester's presentation in likeness to KFC. The pizza restaurant is practically non-existent- there's just a heater somewhere near the soda machine that holds pizza which has been already cooked. Yes, I can get gas here, but I was totally looking forward to eating at a few restaurants for some location next to Wendy's called “The Barn Summit”. It's pretty much misleading.

The location is fine & clean. I've had no issue before but just today at 430pm on 9/28/18 he cashier double scanned some items and when I questioned her about it she denied it saying it hadn't been rang up that it just made the beep sound. I looked for the receipt that's to be printed out and she followed my eyes and she hurried up to void the transaction. She started to ring the items up again but with the drawer open. Any former cashier knows that's not going to work. She then says never mind and just hands me a $5 with a fake smile. I meant to catch her name but I'm too confrontational so I just walked out pissed and disgusted. I still don't know if I was over or undercharged but I know she's probably eating food off of overcharging customers.

The staff are some of the rudest people I've ever had to deal with at a gas station. It feel like they are racist. I am a white person. And I ordered food at the little food place in there. And they were so rude. I will never be going back to that place. I advise you to drive a extra 30 secs and go to loves as the staff are very nice.

So I stop here for gas every so often because it's convenient for me. Never had one problem just getting gas. That's because you never have to deal with the rude staff. Almost every time I go in there, the girls are texting or God knows what on their phone. God for bid you interrupt them to have them do their job. Don't bother telling them that they're out of coffee. They'll get to it when they get to it. I've walked out of there with nothing more times than I've purchased something. So this review is the complete opposite if you happen to speak Spanish. The ladies behind the counter will always give you a warm greeting and get you anything you need. Go ahead, call me a racist. I've seen this more than one time. I get treated like crap, and Spanish speaking people get the red carpet. So in short, stop there for gas. Don't bother going inside.

If I could I would give it zero stars, the staff is rude, zero customer service. You have to ask for napkins if you buy food---'oh yea the food sucks---tasteless breakfast burritos. I pretty sure the locals (like me) never stop here even though I drive past it EVERY morning. I stop at Fast Trip on tucker road for the best coffee bar in the city. Plus real customer service.

What is so convenient about this station is the CFM handy dandy pumps. The City of Tehachapi and the Union pacific Rail Road attracts a lot of Rail Road contractors coming from different parts of the state and from out of state who carry CFM fuel cards ; and the convenience of driving down the 58 fwy to see a Chevron which accepts this card is certifiably refreshing.

I've passed this place three times, even though I really wanted Noble Romans pizza, something they had in the midwest. In August 2013, I was still living out there, unfortunately. More than ever, I wanted to try the pizza at this location. Previously, I had not been there at an opportune time and this was exactly that. Outside, it says "The Barn" several places. Inside, it looked okay--at first glance. I asked about how fresh the personal pizzas were. The person who came from the back seemed irritated and said that she'd just replaced what was missing. There was one of each type. I got The Works--what you'd called Deluxe or Supreme elsewhere. The person behind the other register rang that and I asked to pay for a drink, but I had not filled a cup yet. He wasn't friendly but also not unfriendly. I went to set the pizza somewhere around the dining area. I don't believe that there was a clean table or counter. Had it been cleaned in a week? I don't know. I had the notion that the employees or their families messed it up and left it that way, so no one else would use it. I wouldn't use it twice. The pizza was as good as I would have expected in the midwest, near Noble Romans' headquarters, and the Mountain Dew was good. I don't think I'd ever stop again. There are plenty of places to eat in the town, as well as Love's Travel Stops at the next exit, which is where I usually stop when I'm in a hurry.

I would like to say, succintly, that Tehachapi has a biting cold wind. If you foolishly get out of your car to pump your gas, remember to bring your pea coat or risk freezing between the gas station and the snack center.
