This place is NOT a diamond in the rough, you pay out the yazoo for just a sandwich and kids meal. I paid $36.62 for skimpy Ruben sandwich that the meat was overcooked and a side salad of all white iceberg lettuce, a sprinkle of cheese a few tiny diced tomatoes, 5 chicken nuggets and frozen crinkle fried potatoes, a kids drink and a medium drink. They charged a 4% processing fee, when my debt card only charges .05%. The service personnel was its saving grace and I tipped 18%. First time there but last time there and next time I’ll drive to Kohnen’s Country Bakery, well worth the drive and a good hearty Ruben sandwich. Ripoff!

This place came recommended and I see why. Their biscuits and gravy are amazing! Omelets and home fries were tasty also. Great service too. Really cool little place. I am looking forward to coming back and trying their lunch menu soon.

We planned a day trip to Tehachapi; after doing a Google Maps search, we found J's Hideaway Tehachapi. We got there 30 minutes before they where to close. We walked in, were greeted warmly, and were shown to a table by the window. When we got there they had several people at tables. Our waiter greeted us again, and we placed our order. The food came out fast and hot. We had a great experience; the food and the staff made it a fun and relaxing experience. We will definitely be back at J's Hideaway!!🍔🥪

This was our very first time visiting Tehachapi, and J's Hideaway was the first restaurant we ate at. The first impression we received from the staff has made us consider living up here. We were received warmly by the staff, even the patrons all smiled and said hello. In a word we were loved. The food was amazing! I ordered a chile/beef hotdog omelette??, ridiculously delicious!! My wife had the eggs Benedict and was slurping the hollandaise sauce with a straw when there was nothing left to eat! I highly recommend you do some self care and eat here! We will definitely be back!! Thank you J's!!

Hidden Gem! This little dinner in a strip mall could stand proud even if it was in New Jersey! ( capital of dinners). The food was excellent and portions were real. Service is friendly and fast . Feels like you are in her kitchen . My breakfast sandwich was AMAZING!

Been wanting to try this place for breakfast for awhile. Well my review: good food, decent price, however, my turn off, really dirty worn carpet. That is deal breaker. Don’t think I’ll be going back. They give military discount. Lots of pluses, but carpet thing not good.

BEST FOOD we've had in AGES! The home fried potatoes were DIVINE! EVERYTHING we ate was DELICIOUS! EVERYONE of the staff was so nice and helpful. The restaurant is clean and has an interesting (in my opinion attractive) décor. J's Hideaway will now be our #1 go-to restaurant choice! Kid-friendliness: Kids were welcomed and I think there is enough visual interest and friendly interaction with the staff to keep them entertained. Other diners would not be surprised and shouldn't be bothered by children being at nearby tables.
