Finding a good espresso on the road can be hard work, but the search was well rewarded at Mountain Coffee House! Made a lovely flat white and nice warm baked blueberry muffin to complete the pairing. Really nice outdoor space and staff the friendliest you could ask for - even spotted my wallet that had fallen out of my pocket! Whoops đ€Š

Around this time last year, we met one of the owners (or the ownerâs husband) of this coffee shop at another spot in Tehachapi. He was super nice and welcoming, especially since we were new to the area, and told us to check this place out. Since then, Iâve come by a few times and always had great experiences, friendly employees, amazing food, and good vibes all around. Itâs even become my go to spot to bring friends and family when they visit.
Unfortunately, todayâs visit was really disappointing and honestly kind of embarrassing. When we walked in, we took a minute to look at the menu and decided to try something from the fall specials. As we went up to order, the employee at the register (Leah) rolled her eyes at us. My friend asked a few questions about drinks and milk alternatives, and the employeeâs attitude was so off-putting that my friend decided to skip the drink altogether and just order food.
Watching the interaction was uncomfortable. Leah came across as annoyed and aggressive, like she didnât want to be there. When it was my turn to order, I tried to keep it quick, but after everything I said sheâd respond with, âWhat else, guys?â in a really dismissive tone, like we were bothering her or taking too long.
The food itself actually tasted really good, just like it always does, but it was hard to enjoy it after the experience we had ordering. We ended up spending around $60, and to top it off, there was a hair wrapped around the grapes that came with our food and my friendâs sandwich wasnât what the menu described.
Iâve never seen this employee before, so maybe she was having a bad day, but it completely changed the experience for us. I normally donât leave reviews, but this one really needed to be addressed because it was so different from the great service Iâve had here in the past.

Good breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, and barista coffee. Plenty of other options as well. Wifi, couches, and tables inside and some outside seating too, I think there was a back patio as well.
I ordered a pesto BLT that was absolutely incredible. I got it to go ordered and picked up and stuff in my face pretty quickly. It was excellent. I did the sourdough with it and unfortunately, I did not get a photo but the place was cute. There were some outdoor seating and the sandwich was excellent.
