Can’t do much better than the location and the atmosphere. We went there because they have Tesla chargers, otherwise we would not have been able to travel far into the sequoias as we wanted to.
The servers were awesome and friendly, and they had a baseball game on the main TV in the bar, so that was an awesome experience.
Now for the food and beverages: they had three beers on tap and we didn’t want any of those, so that was disappointing especially after a long hot day of hiking. We really would have enjoyed some local beer on tap and more choices. So we went with a pint of the “Sherman” IPA in a good glass, so those were great.
Now the appetizers were pretty lousy. Most of the options were deep fried in seed oils and most likely frozen food from a distributor, so yuck.
But the Ruben sandwich was delicious and meaty, so I really liked that. The house salad was amazing (slivered beets, cucumbers, chick peas and tomatoes) so that was delicious.
All in all, we would go there again but would not order appetizers again- was just fast food.
The river view was to die for and the patio to sit on was pure freedom from the everyday. Thank you, Gateway for such a fun two days of hospitality.
Disappointing experience compared to what was shown on the website. The room was significantly outdated and not worth the price—especially at over $300 per night. We stayed in Cabin 6, labeled the “honeymoon” cabin, which was the only one available and advertised as something special. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations in terms of appearance or cleanliness.
I’m giving 2 stars solely for the quality of the restaurant food and the service, which were both solid. That said, the restaurant prices were also quite high.
We were relieved to have only booked one night, as I wouldn’t have felt comfortable staying any longer.
Expect to wait up to 3+ hours to eat here. They will require reservations but when with one you can get turned away. The restaurant mostly empty with an empty bar still. No cell signal so unless you have a screenshot of your reservation good luck. They won’t let you in
The service was good, the location was amazing, and the food was pretty terrible. It was the WORST steak I've ever had - the seasoning was decent, but every single bite was nothing but gristle. I filled an entire side plate with all the refuse from the meat.
Beyond that, the salad utilized multiple canned foods, the drinks were quite watery for the price, and we were aggressively accosted by bees.
My wife and I still had a good evening, despite the setbacks. Even after a 20% discount for the poor quality of the steak, I still felt that I paid $120 for a $30 dinner.
Eat. Somewhere. Else. Poorly cooked food, unfriendly staff, high prices, outdated interior, and lots of bugs inside. 🤮 Seemed like a tourist trap. But, great view of the river.
Serves C level food ($102) and for the quality it is so overpriced. I had very sad looking salmon burger. backed potato shrimp dish, potato wasn’t fully cooked was hard rock, and kids pasta with green beens, was so undercooked my kid couldn’t eat any of it. After we told server the unsatisfactory of the food, they didn’t do anything. $102 .
Servers were good, but the chef needs to do way much better job that this.
We spent NYE and day at the Gateway. Top notch establishment. Great food, exceptional service, superb staff. This was the 2nd NYE we spent there. Definitely making it a New Years tradition.
I would give 5 stars if it wasn't so overpriced. For 2 people it cost $180. That included 2 meals, 2 deserts, 1 app, 1 glass of wine & a dr.pepper. I had eggplant parmigiana. The food was good and the surroundings were great. Loved the outdoor seating area at nighttime. It was lit up and decorated really cute with a river view. There is also couches with fire tables you can sit and eat at. The service was great from everyone else, but my waitress not so much. I noticed the waiter of the people sitting next to me and thought... I wish he was my waiter... because he was outstanding. My waitress was friendly but did not check on us but one time, drink never got refilled and had to sit and wait 30 mins with empty plates waiting for her to give us the check.
Nearby activities: Sequoia NP

Horrible experience at breakfast, on Friday October 18th, the host/waitress was really rude and disrespectful, I wasn't even finished and she brought the check without asking if I was done and her attitude was always rude. Shouldn't have these people serving customers.

Ate at the restaurant and the whole experience was sub par. Bathrooms were gross and clogged up. Place smell old and moldy. Servers ignored us most of the visit. Chicken Alfredo was bland and tasteless. Steak was gristly. Vegetables unseasoned.
My drink was watered down and my girlfriends was stronger. Both were still 80% ice.

We visited the restaurant and thought it was very beautiful. A bit pricier but a nice restaurant and right outside the park so expected. The building and view were fantastic. Service was lacking and our server could’ve had a better attitude (coming from a table of servers). Also one of the books was returned without a card, which we only realized after leaving. A bit on us to not realize but for a restaurant for people passing through there should be more attention to that in the future.

Food and drinks: Decent food with good value for money. Great views to the river and mountains and outside seating area.

Family dinner together outside on the riverside deck was a wonderful, fun experience. The weather was beautiful and our view of the full moon rising was awesome. We loved our server, Taylor, who was fantastic, and everyone said their fish, burgers, soups and pastas were tasty.
We would certainly return for another meal, great place.
Food and drinks: We visited the Gateway Restaurant which is very good...did NOT stay at their lodge.

I was only there for the food so i can’t rate the lodging/rooms. This place is just right outside the sequoia National park entrance so it is very convenient. Love the gateway restuarant. Friendly and approachable restaurant crew. Food and drinks were good. An overall lovely experience!
